There are probably hundreds of videos that claim they’ll teach you how to quiet your mind. Most just say to ignore the chatter. This is one of the very few that actually delivers. Thank you, Ajahn Brahm. 🙏

Kudos for the Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Marnaavid Unexplainable Intervention (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for learning how to hack your flow state without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got astronomical results with it.

I love these teachings, however, public buildings, books and employees are paid for by the government with American tax dollars. Although, it would be convenient to teach this at public schools, it would be a form of government respecting an establishment of religion which is prohibited by the first amendment. Home (church, mosque, temple) is the appropriate place for these teachings.

Ajahn Bram’s method of silencing the mind works for me. After doing meditation for some time already, the endless and compulsive inner chatter isn’t as bad as before. I wasn’t thinking of what he is going to say next. I also chant mantra slowly depending on the conditions of my mind. Thank you Ajahn Bram for pointing out the gap in between each thought. 🙏

I never understood mantra. I was just repeating it again and again without pause trying to prevent the room for my mind to wander.i was aiming for sitting without music or mantras thinking theres nothing around to distract at all i have never made real progress with meditation and no one teaches you how to use mantras properly no one tells you to pause. but i see now how the mantra helps you get to the point of sitting in complete silence and we get to control the pace with how long the pauses are. I love this Thank you

Finally! Something that makes sense and made things click with me! I always heard to clear your minds. Watch the breath. Nothing. I didn't think I could do it somehow. Then this make perfect sense. It reminds me when I used to hunt. Don't blast me, I can't bring myself to go hunt any more. My heart won't let me. But, I would sit there watching the whole time. You couldn't think very hard or you would miss the game you were hunting. You just wouldn't see it. The quieter I was, the more often I saw something. Same here. Just watch. Looking. No thoughts. Just observing. I suspect that knowing this now, then I'll actually start to make progress in seeing and understanding. Thanks!

sometimes when im meditating and Im at the point where my mind is blank of thoughts and in a deep relaxed place and even though my mind is blank of thoughts and im deeply relaxed the Physical body begins to snore . Yet my mind is awake and blank of thoughts and its a very odd state indeed to be blank of thoughts with a mind that is awake and yet the physical body is so relaxed its in a snoring state !!!! This does not always happen to me , but when it does and then I come out of the meditation it leaves me with a giggle feeling once Im up and about again . I enjoy meditating and i also enjoy many mind games in similar states of the mind . My interest in meditation began when I was 25 and I had an OBE and now Im 49 for me every meditation is different and so the learning must never stop .....

You are all here trying to stop your thoughts. Well, stop it already! Give your thoughts free reign and do not try to shut them down! The problems begin when you try to suppress your thoughts! DON'T! Just let them go whichever way they want. You can be an observer and listen to them too! Some are audio, others are visual. Some are fragments, some are complete. Let them go they way they want. Take this to heart and you will have gained quite a bit of freedom. Edit: You can be a slave to your mind (trying to suppress your thoughts) or you can be free (letting your thoughts do what they want)

I am not sure if you can silence the mind by using a mantra, by default you are thinking about the mantra. To meditate, you have to think about meditation. To be in the present moment does not help if you do not like the present situation you are in.
