"Will technological progress bring downfall to human kind ? Are robots taking over our world ? Are we passive or do we make choices ? We have a free will, we must be conscious that we can use that free will. What we as human kind will decide is going to be defining our future. " Françoise Chombar is CEO and cofounder of Melexis. She has held executive positions with a number of tech companies. Ms Chombar is currently member of the Board of Umicore, a global materials technology and recycling group.
She is equally president of the STEM platform, an advisory board to the Flemish government, aiming to encourage young people to pursue a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics education. She was a mentor to the SOFIA Women’s Network for 17 years, a coaching, networking and educational program for women active in the profit sector.
Françoise Chombar’s long-term commitment to actively advocating more STEM and more gender balance is driven by the profound belief in their positive societal impact. She was the 2016 recipient of the Vlerick Award, which the Vlerick Business School grants annually to a “visionary business leader who guided his company to the international top with sustainable results.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. why?? Because these are subjects that we need to care about? technology is racially insensitive, no one could deny that. If you look at all of the successful social media CEO's do you spot any woman as a CEO for a famous social media platform?? Yeah, me neither. Technological progress comes hand in hand with social progress because society teaches algorithms how to perform, not vice versa. I do not agree with her on women caring more than men, that's just gender social constructionism. However, race and gender are topics that NEED to be discussed when talking about technology. level up.

So.. the reason one could say women ‘care’ more, is because they don’t pick stem fields much over medicine and nursing in large enough numbers? So... the moment they begin picking stem fields more, the proof that they are more caring is gone?? Silly. I think most people do what they can to make the world better and that makes them caring. Whether that’s inventing, fixing, healing or birthing we are all caring.

I'd like to live in simpler times with less technology. Unable to change the future now. It is what it is at this point.

I think technology is a bad thing. Most people think it is very useful but I don't think so. In my opinion, it makes us lonely and sedantary. For example, children spend too much time on the internet and they don't spend time outside.
