Update: Before filming this video, I tested this method multiple times, and it always worked perfectly fine. I was able to delete the photos from the original account, and they were still safe in the new account. And judging by most of the comments on this video, this has also been the case for most people who have tried it. However, I have now had a few comments from a few different people who said when they deleted the photos from the original account, the photos disappeared from the new account. I'm not sure if they did something incorrectly, or if there was some sort of glitch on their accounts or something. But if the photos end up deleted from both accounts, and you have emptied the trash, there will be nothing at all you can do to get them back, which would be very bad. So, before you do this, you may want to back up your photos using Google Takeout: takeout.google.com/ Or, try deleting one or two photos, and make sure they are still in the new account, before you delete all your photos, just to be safe.

I followed all instructions up to 8:00 on "Deleting Photos from Old Account (optional) but I don't see my new account adding up in terms of storage used, when I deleted some photos from my old account. The new account also didn't add up storage when I stopped partner sharing from the old account (to validate that all photos have indeed been saved to the new account). I am not confident that I can safely delete all photos from my old account if the new account is not adding up in storage. My goal is to transfer all photos permanently from my old to new account and not worrying about the existence of the old account.

After partner sharing and saving the photos to the new account and deleting photos from the original account also deleted photos from the new account. Thankfully I had made a backup from Google Takeout I have those photos again but this method doesn’t seem to work to actually move photos to another account.

My university is now shutting down our accounts and I have to move all my photos to my personal account. I used your tutorial to move all my photos in my library. Hi, there, Timmy! Good video and very clearly spoken! All good and instructive ! But what you (and many other video presenters in KZfaq) have neglected to mention is - and most importantly - that the new second account that you need to create, must be made in another INCOGNITO Chrome browser page !! If you create a new account in a new tab of the same browser as your original account with your original log-in ID, then the "Auto Save" function will not appear in your new account Photos page , nor can you transfer your photos to this new account. You could only have a sharing function, of seeing the photos still in your original account and which cannot be saved in the new second account. Once Google knows that it is the same person creating multiple accounts, it will restrict your storage to the 15GB per person in the original parent account only! So for adding on an independent account with another 15GB of storage, you would need to use another computer or anogher incognito chrome page to create this new account, which Google cannot link with your original account. I could have saved a lot of time if this was emphasized and stressed upon in the beginning !! Thanks !

hey, so when i shared the photos to my second account and then deleted a few from my main account, all of my photos still show in my second account. However, it says that none of the storage on the second account have been used so im not sure if they were actually transferred. Im not gonna delete them all yet to be safe but does anyone have a similar issue?

I have done this but only some photos have crossed over into my photos and when I look at what was shared I see very many that are not in my account now. Do i need to wait for all of them to appear becuase it looks like some came through and some didnt at random even though I said save all photos. Brother I did auto save on new account,after that i had 49 photos in the month of September which i deleted in my old account and then also i was able to see them in my new account photos section. I set up a second account to save space cause my main one is already full and I have 13GB of pictures, when I did this to have them on a second account I only have 2.7GB of photos... they're thousands so I really don't know which ones are missing (I have it since 2014). What can I do to see if ALL my pictures are there and if so why are they taking only a fraction of the space?

When I click on one of the shared photos (while in the 2nd account) and click on the triple dot in the right hand corner of the photo, then scroll down to "backed up" and it says "this item doesn't take up space in your account storage". My whole point to doing this is so I can delete the photos in the 1st account and keep a copy of them in the 2nd account, then delete them safely from the 1st account. I've been playing around with deleting photos in the 1st account to see if they disappear from the (shared with) 2nd account, just to check... so far, the 2nd account photos stay when deleting from 1st account. Which is what I want. But... if they aren't taking up space in the 2nd account... where ARE they taking up space once deleted from the 1st account? Hello. I've a edu account that'll be shut in some time. I've around 80 GBs of data in that account. I have shared all the photos of that account to my personal gmail account. I've two queries regarding this process: 1. I've turned on auto-save. It's slowly saving all the photos from my edu account to the personal account, but not saving videos yet. Does the Partner Sharing not auto-save videos? 2. After manually saving some media to my personal account, I deleted it permanently from the edu account. But the media is neither taking up any storage space in my personal account, nor getting deleted from the personal account. I'm afraid if I lose the data as it is strange that photos are not taking up any storage space and also not getting deleted when deleted from the edu account. Kindly explain why this is happening and if it's fine or will that cause my data loss.

I saw your video from last year regarding making a Google Album and think you stated a photo put into an album still remains in Photos...total redundancy. Isn't there any way to circumvent this? I hope I'm wrong but it seems if I delete a photo from Photos it ALSO GETS DELETED FROM THE ALBUM. ARRRRG😡 I thrive on order and this is not orderly.
