The actual fight featured in this film is between Harry Mizler and Jack "Kid" Berg on October 29, 1934 at the Royal Albert Hall for the British lightweight title. According to Boxrec at least, Ted and Jack never fought each other.

Ted Kid Lewis and Jack Kid Berg rank among our greatest ever British Fighters. Ted was in my opinion an very tight choice for No.1 over the outstanding Jimmy Wilde. Jack Berg wasnt at the top of the list but must be in there in any discussion. He peaked very early in his boxing career perhaps because of his whirlwind all action style and maybe because of the number of very tough opponents he met in the US. Bergs record like Lewis's is a who's who of boxing great opponents. Jack won the first of three fights with legendary Tony Canzoneri, but he didnt just beat Tony He gave him the father and mother of a hiding (US newspaper quotes from that time) Jack made around 12 defenses of his Junior (later Light) Welterweight title. Ted lasted longer at the top against outstanding opponents at so many weights. Twice holder of the World Welterweight title who made more defenses during one of his reigns than you'll usually see credited in boxing record books.
