Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) is an Indian fighter jet which is currently under development. This is being designed for requirements of Indian Navy by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). TEDBF will mainly operate from Indian Navy’s aircraft carriers.

I think , IAF should focus more on Air Space Protection , Air Dominance and Power Projections near boarder area with China, Pakistan, Mayanmar, Bangladesh and they should simply leave the Maritime Air Strike role, Air Dominance, Power Projection and Coastal Air Protection to the Indian Navy Air Arm, so that they would be able to fully utilise the development and production of TEDBF , even if IAF doesn't take the ORCA .

@Vicky Ghait The Rafale M, and F/A-18 Super Hornet Block III belong to medium weight category. I think that the F-35C and B are also in the medium weight fighter category. I also think that FC-31/J-35 is also a medium weight fighter category. TED-BF is also gonna be a medium weight fighter. Only J-15 and Su-33 are the heavy-weight category fighters in the naval world. Note: there might be some other naval fighters that are in service, I am just talking about the ones that came in the year/s 2000+.

Rafale M has been in existence since 2001 while TEDBF exists on paper. TEDBF will need to be better than Rafale M when it is production (induction) ready. TEDBF will come out almost after 30 years of Rafale M existence.

Fully agree with your practical thinking. ..By the time tested and approved TEDBF comes on the production line for the delivery to the IAF, Rafale's more advanced 5-6 th. generation vergions will be fully ready for export. Is it then safe and for India to wait for more than 15 yrs. (that's earliest) ?

Actually they say the speed of 1.6 Mach as it is practical as high speeds are only achieved at very high ceilings where planes do not fly as it reduces maneuverability, if we compare thrusts capabilities of engine and weight it could actually achieve speed in excess of Mach 2 and also would be able to supercruise at speeds of around 1.4 Mach or more

Bro don't expect a jet to be best in the first attempt. A aircraft is made up by evolution of upgrades. See Tomcat for example it had so many problems in its initial stages...there were so many problems in its engines...now after some time it became one of most iconic aircrafts ever made.

What if we take fighters on lease and in war like situations comes then we use that leased fighters and some fighters get destroyed then what will happen we need to give the full amount to the owners of that fighters and through we can go for loss

I must clear one thing here there is no Naval version of LCA tejas. The prototype you have seen is a model of the technology developed from this. Today TEDBF model is derived from tejas only but india didn't have the technology of heavy landing gear and arrested cable technology. All these were developed and tested through that naval model. Neither DRDO or HAL or Navy had claimed of the rejection of that tejas model. In short a testing bed for TEDBF

But if airforce goes with tedbf design for orca then they can save money on r&d with minot modification to design. And vice versa if Navy wants stealth fighter then they can modify AMCA and also save money.

I always love double engine aircraft. So i always support to double engine aircraft. Because when one engine fail the another engine make the thrust of any aircraft which is double engine.
