While the idea is interesting of sending the information recorded in advance, this assumes that the meeting is meant for information-sharing only and unidirectional in nature. Context-setting comes from one voice only. Perhaps this works in the education industry, but doesn't set the students up for success. What I feel is completely lost here is that it's discussed how meetings otherwise are useless, but coming from an academic institution, there is nothing about how students are actually taught HOW to lead effective meetings. People enter the work world with absolutely no direction on how to do this basic, most common business activity. Completely missed opportunity.
