Whats make this song even crazier lyrically is that each verse is rhymed from a different point of view. 1st verse is in 1st person point of view he uses the pronouns ( i, me, and etc) to start each bar, 2nd verse is in 2nd person point of view so she starts each bar with " you" and 3rd verse is 3rd person point of view so each bar starts the pronouns they, he, she etc.

I relocated from Germany in the early 90's to NYC (30 years ago now) and my Jamaican wife were doing the club scene in NYC, e.g. Nell's, Webster Hall, SoB's, you name it... the Jazz clubs in Harlem, etc. Digable Planets' "Cool Like That" is to this day representing to me the coolest time of NYC in the 90's! I feel blessed to have been there, at that time! "Rebirth of Slick" that's NYC in the 90's to me!

Remember when sold yer boy was the worst thing you ever heard to the point KRS-1 felt the need to give him the come to Jesus speech? I bet his corny ass would run roughshod on these Mouth full of verbal diarrhea drooling MC’s**** of today. Let that marinate, where are we all going to be musically in 20 years? God I hope this changes. Love how it took your daughter like half of a verse to be like alright I’m diggin this, but when ladybug grabbed the mic(I would still take her out to a restaurant I can’t afford, she still looks good and I’ve never seen a woman pull off the short hair like she did, not even Halle “the Darker the” Berry)and started doing her thing, your daughter had to sit on her hands to keep herself from waving in the air like she just doesn’t care. You’ve taught her well, my daughter is 3 I’m trying to start her off early with lyrics that have power and emotion behind it and not just “sheeeeyyyiiiit I guess I could spend the next 10 minutes and probably write this alleged album out so my label will quit sweatin me, not like it matters though I’ll be gone just as fast as I showed up to this game trying to sell my chains and rims back.” And for the record, you can pretty much spin the rebirth of slick wherever you are and people will be appreciative. Be it parties, lounging, the library, church, grandmas house, as long as you sit on the plastic, the people’s court, doesn’t matter. I don’t know anybody that didn’t like that track regardless of what they listened to. Legend: *****in this case MC stands for Might be Contagious And if you haven’t yet, arrested development would be a solid next step. Can’t go wrong with Tennessee or Mr Wendell

I made my friend watch the first season of The Get Down and he's slowly been on a roller coaster of discovering Hip Hop, creeping on it's way into the 90's. It might be a good way for anyone to learn where it originated from. Thanks to the events in the show kids nowadays can shit on pavement that was laid...I mean respect the foundation that was laid for Hip Hop.
