I love that you still wanted to incorporate her taste in Harry Potter even though it’s not your thing. I personally am obsessed and I hate to break it to you but I never did grow out of it hahaha. Great job with the decor!

My kids and I love Harry Potter. I've been obsessed since the age of 8...20 years later and yup still obsessed, tattoos and all. Well my boys became obsessed with it as well and when they asked for a Harry Potter themed room and for it to accommodate their houses (Gryffindor&Hufflepuff) I went all out and I'm still not done with their room and I've been working on it for about a year now. I've spent tons of money, and it literally looks like you're walking into a dorm and they have replicas and props everywhere! I've shopped everyone from Target, Walmart, Pottery Barn, even the 99! I dont think its tacky at all and my kids will only be kids for a short time and one day theyll be grown up and moved out and I wont get to so stuff like this for them anymore. On the plus side I bought them the Mirror of Erised from Pottery Barn for over $400 and if they ever do grow out of HP then I can keep it😊😊😊🐍💚

My daughter gasped with joy when you pulled out the mirror, so I guess it is just a thing for those who like Harry Potter! You are doing a great job balancing what you like with what your daughter likes, so I think it's fabulous that you give her input, and hey, it's going to look great! I can't wait to see the final version.

I'm a 35-year-old woman who happens to love Harry Potter and I have the mirror hung in my entryway. Sorry, not sorry. lol. Then again, I don't take myself too seriously and my house definitely has elements of a "haunted house" as you described. 😂 I also made my own mandrake (again, Harry Potter) and I have it in one of my display cabinets and I decorated our Xmas tree a few years back in a Harry Potter theme. Different strokes for different folks I guess!

Harry Potter is not something people used to like and no longer do! No worries of getting tired of Harry Potter, although I usually want a decor change every few years. It’s a story that engrains in your heart. The depth of jk Rowling’s imagination is astounding and anyone who appreciates literature would be in awe of the details! I spread hints of magic all throughout my home. Harry Potter oven mits, wooden cooking utensils with burned Harry Potter illustrations, a book shelf with my different collectors edition books and a few collectibles. Framed art. Ect. I’m not big on gawky and obvious Harry Potter usually but I would own this mirror for sure. Honestly in a dream world where money was limitless and I lived in a house with a built in library, I’d want one full size! Everything is beautiful and very elegant! Can’t wait to find the room tour

Pier one usually has some lights with the timer. I’m so excited for the Harry Potter room! My 13 year old loves Harry Potter and wants to redecorate her room as well. You’re giving me some great ideas!

I think you & your daughter did a nice job in picking out tasteful, not tacky items for her room redo. I know nothing about Harry Potter, but from what I can see, I like everything. As for the mirror, not my taste :-), but I think it will work well with everything else. And that duvet is actually really beautiful! I like the soft colors.

Thank you! We are very different, and yet very similar, in some ways so it can be a struggle to compromise on things sometimes but I think we did pretty well! :) Yes, the mirror is dreadful but I at least it was cheap! lol

I saw the timed fairy lights at Walmart but not sure of the size. The mirror isn't really as bad as some things I've seen. I think it can be worked in to the room without much trouble. It will make your daughter happy and it didn't cost that much. Don't look at it when you go in her room, it just might grow on you...…...lol. Mary

You are the BEST MOM EVER!!! I love harry potter to. Im 37, so your daughter will probably love it forever! I dont like the mirror though. Love the bedding, its not too over the top and very fitting for a teens room

Amazon sells a large qty set of plug in fairy lights and they sell an on off toggle thing at Lowe’s that they can be plugged into to make a ‘lamp’.

I've seen some videos of Top Villas and places like that with homes you can rent in Orlando for vacation. Some of the rooms have beautifully themed rooms of Princess, or pirates, or star wars, or marvel or harry potter ( you get the point). They are gorgeous. I can see the mirror and the sheets and all of that going into one of these rooms and it would be perfect. For something like that, yes, I think the decor is gorgeous and I love the mirror. However, for your everyday bedroom, especially for a 14 year old, I agree. Pre/teens will grow out of it quickly and you spent a fortune to decorate a room for, basically, 12-24 months at most. Vacation home / temporary living space --> yes, go all out and theme the room from floor to ceiling. For your everyday bedroom...I wouldn't do it.I know you always stay at Disney hotels, but if you ever feel like going with extra family (grandparents, uncles, cousins), look into the themed villas. I think your girls would love them.

I like the theme for your daughter, and I think you picked out some nice items and I like the bedding . 😄🌞I know it's hard with kids that age, my son is 15 and my daughter is turning 13 this month and they both are going through room redos right now as well and I am struggling.😖🙏 I want them to have some independence and creativity in the thought process but like you, I want to regain some control because I am spending money . And we know all too well that kids go through phases, so it is a battle to an extent.😯💚 I feel your pain! 😱I can't wait to see the finished product! 😍💃I know it will be beautiful.🌸💚🌷
