The way Frida dances towards the end - pure joy! Abba at their most fun, and as you noticed, the boys' backing vocal incantation is spellbinding. Play this and stay in a bad mood, I dare ya

The happiest song of the 70's!
@brt52735 ай бұрын
This was the first song of theirs that caught my attention on the radio. It was sooo catchy and i loved that "wall of sound " quality. The videos from this period are a trip because they weren't produced for commercial consumption. They were just "promos", often only improvised, very basic format with limited but creative visual effects, never expected to reach a wide audience or enjoy longevity of replaying over the years.

Agree!!! It's pretty much peak ABBA, with all 4 of them singing, and their trademark sad-lyrics-but-triumphant-music. And the choreography and camera work is so extremely ABBA that it's almost like they're sending themselves up!

Very enjoyable reaction, that one obviously cheered you up. My memory (and it might be a bit hazy) is that the weather was awful and there was snow on the ground when this video appeared, I always hear it as a piercing ray of sunshine, really brightens the place up, every time.

Thank you, I have enjoyed your ABBA trip.👍 Bjorn Ulvaeus enjoyed jogging and as he ran he sang a "tck-a-ch"-style rhythm to himself. This evolved into the line "Take a Chance on Me," around which he wrote the rest of the words. Although unlike "Dancing Queen" this didn't top the US chart, it did sell more than the chart topper. The working title was "Billy Boy."

So nice to see you return to reaction more ABBA songs "Take a chance on me" (1978) is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world, the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen), #3 in Billboard U.S. one of their four Top10 in US : #6 Waterloo (1974) #1 Dancing Queen (1977) #3 Take a chance on me (1978) #8 The winner takes it all (1981) This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music (They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end) the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful, in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid 'Frida' in co-leads vocal (and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance') Agnetha & Frida have fantastic voices and harmonies together Agnetha is soprano Anni Frid 'Frida' is mezzo soprano and together made a 'third voice' the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging, by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to "take a chance, chance, take a chance", so the song was born Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive In the same time, the single before was "The name of the game" Is probably the most complex song of ABBA and, of course, is different! That's my new suggestion to next reaction I wish you a greatest new week and a happy new year (like an ABBA song) My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América
@rdwulf62895 ай бұрын
Frida's voice is definitely the most prominent in the first part of the verses, with Agnetha singing most of the second part. They both lead on this song. No one voice dominates. First single I ever bought.
@eduardooscar309Ай бұрын
@@rdwulf6289 Saying this is a sterile and useless controversy. It's as if I were saying that Agnetha's high-pitched voice dominates the chorus in "Money Money Money", which is true. But that doesn't change the main fact, that Frida is the lead singer of that song for the most part and with solos. included Well, here it is the same Because as each song requests, when the bass predominates, Frida leads, and when the trebles are stronger, Agnetha predominates. But the main fact here is that, although they both sing together for most of the song, Agnetha is the more dominant voice (and with solos included, and with special parts in the video even) in the average song.

I was 11 years old when this came out (yeah I'm that old!) and it utterly blew my young mind. It's a fabulous song from "ABBA: The Album". It's still my favourite ABBA song. If you want to hear a completely different side of ABBA - check out "Eagle" and another animal themed song "Tiger". Both are outstanding. "Under Attack" is brilliant. If you're up for listening to a completely different song and (South African) artist - check out "Scatterlings of Africa" and "Dela" (used in "George of the Jungle") by "Johnny Clegg". Sadly Johnny (known as the "White Zulu" in his country and a close friend of Nelson Mandela) died a few years ago from pancreatic cancer. Saw him live and he was amazing.

Great reaction Chase. Once again, Take a Chance on Me is Pure Bliss, Pure Joy and Pure Innovation. The idea for this song came when Bjorn was jogging and came up with the Rif in alignment with his feet hitting the pavement. He and Benny used this as the song Arc, and in true ABBA style, a classic ABBA song was born. I also love how playful Frida and Agnetha are in this video. Keep up the great work Chase, we love experiencing ABBA magic through your eyes.

So far you have 20 reaction videos to ABBA "Dancing Queen" is at the top with +9000 views the Top5 is completed Gimme gimme gimme S.O.S. Chiquitita The winner takes it all Of the classic official ABBA music videos, the most important one that you are still missing is "Knowing me knowing you" Other very important ones: Voulez Vous One of us The name of the game and the other comeback song in 2021 "I still have faith in you" a special case with a song "I have a dream" (1979) At their time it did not have an official video, but its version in Spanish did. 'Estoy soñando' (the first official video that ABBA made in Spanish, after the colossal success of "Chiquitita" especially in Latin America) and with the release of the lyric videos from the album "GOLD" "I have a dream" finally had its well-deserved video in English

Abba won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest in my hometown, Brighton, England. Ironically, during their active years, it wasn't seen as cool to be an Abba fan here in the UK. There were far more street cred groups around to follow. It's only later, here in the UK at least, that Abba has acquired legendary status. I guess the UK is where they gained their international status.
