Yep, in the follow up documentary they did 5 years after Paul McManus talks about this. Paul McManus who was on death row in this documentary for killing his wife and kids was commuted to life in prison and he talks about how he regrets appealing death because living in prison for the rest of his life and thinking about what he did is worse.

He killed two people but children dont have these thoughts typically, he needed an insanity plea, intense therapy, etc. We need to stop putting those who commit crimes in prison for lifetimes, and actually try to reform them. Your parents pay for school and college and we have a time frame on when to start or when to finish however prisoners have A lot of time and free resources , they can repeat free of cost, so yea they should be articulate , at least when they get out ( some of them) they can start over rather than going back where they left off.

He does seem very articulate and it's sad to see him in there wasting away his life when it seems he had so much more potential. I tend to think if you commit a murder as a teen, you'll be worse as an adult. I can't imagine being locked up on death row. Now, I think his partner in crime had more influence since he was older. I feel he would change his life around if given the chance and be a productive member of society.

It’s hard and shameful for loved ones of the prisoner especially when they’re so young. It’s a life changing event for the victims family. My sibling was murdered by two 16 years olds. I was 18 it messed my mind up that children were the cause of that

I have a cousin that said from a young age he's going to prison. He's currently always in and out of jail!

As a young black man, Ive always said that... hope I’m wrong but that’s what I’ve grown to see continuously. Innocent or not. Small or big crime...

The fact is the majority of the people that were put in jail in their early teens were black and/or from poor families shows the disparity in our so called justice system.

Not saying he shouldn't, but imagine seeing the world today when the last image you have of the outside is the 70s? I wasn't even born then, the pictures I see from the time look semi-alien. How on earth is he going to cope? I make fun of my mum who was a kid in the seventies and she can't get her mobile to work normally, how's he gonna react? Maybe some sort of midway house, facility to help him, bit alone, I don't know if he'd manage, especially if he hasn't got family to help him with the cultural shock.

Different states, different laws with regards to juvenile offenders and juveniles that can be tried as adults. Each state is different. If they committed federal crimes, the process is the same regardless of state.
