Lou Reeds favorite music. Only time I've seen him have his guard down and truly enjoying the moment. Must have been a thrill for him. There is also a clip of the '88 Grammy award trbute to Doo Wop with him in it. Truly epic. My dad's favorite music on thus fsthers day.

I was at this show. It was the first time I saw Lou Reed live. He looks happier here than at any other time I've seen him.

You said RIP Lou! I hope he's alive-I just read about him in the NYT 1 or 2 mos. ago. The paper disappeared bf I had a chance to read the whole thing. But I thought he was alive. I'll check. BF is a musician & I talked about Lou to him, & he didn't mention anything. So I'll check! Thank you.

I love all of these artists...AND Dion DiMucci (though I'm from a somewhat later generation) - and I STILL agree that this is one of the weirdest videos on KZfaq that I've seen in a while! One, because I never knew that such an event ever happened, and two, because seeing all of these artists together from various extensions of rock and roll and pop LIVE, unfiltered and unedited, just seems more unusual than something neatly composed, produced, sanded down and packaged, like "We Are the World" (and THAT was composed in part by Michael Jackson, mind you!). 🙂

If we're really honest, a lot of early 60s pop was utter crap. 3-4 chords, simpleton lyrics, same old same old melodies. Thank god for the Beatles and Stones, and of course Bob Dylan to give some real substance to songwriting. Here we see a bunch of 40+ year-olds singing about being a teenager in love. Embarrassing.
