My dental hygienist always compliments me on how nice my teeth are. She says she can tell that I take really good care of my teeth, and it makes her job a lot easier because she doesn’t have to do that much while cleaning my teeth. She then starts complaining about how nasty some of her patients’ teeth are, and how grossed out she gets with some of her patient’s teeth are so nasty. One time she was talking crap about how nasty the teeth were of the patient she just cleaned before me not realizing that she was talking about my wife… Oops! Lol

This is me too. I've been all of them at some point or another. Except the hi and bye one. I have times where my talking is very minimal, but not quite that bad. And that's usually on a patient that doesn't want to talk anyway.

Great post, yes we have our good days and good days . According to one of your subscribers, who is an assistant thinks Dental hygienist Are lazy and Bossy. We have no time to be either!!!We have to be on point everyday , with every patient because we are providers. A Standard of care and the education and knowledge to proform our daily tasks. It's not easy , and it's not getting any easier in 2019. Thx , take care.

I am definitely all of them, for me the patient sets the tone for which one of my inner hygienist comes out, especially my oldest patients, forget it, we are catching up and pictures of everything is coming out. I have been seeing some of them forever now, to the point where I treat their children and the whole family 😂

im in dental hygiene school now and we were talking about how we wonder what type of hygienist we would be and one of our instructors said said "Terri I think you're going to be that one bubbly high fashion clean cut hygienist that makes you laugh and also make you slightly nervous because she's cracking jokes and laughing profusely with a scaler in your jaw."... What did i do ? START LAUGHING PROFUSLEY WITH A BOOK ABOUT SCALERS IN MY HAND lmao I was weakkkk !

Girl my very first hygienist was aggressive. She kept asking me if I flossed and how many times I brushed my teeth. It was so annoying especially since she sounded like she hated her job. I can totally relate to #3

😆😆😆 I'm a talker so I dont mind talkers most ask yes no questions when they in Your mouth cause you can tell if they saying yes or no. I love the ones (any doc/hygienist) for that matter that act like they care even if they dont lol. Especially when your getting a procedure your scared of the docs and teams that come in so bubbly & positive but straight up I love. They make everything so much better putting you at ease! And nothing beats a confident doc who's caring and can give you facts on facts because they have done the procedure plenty of times. I've had a few in the video now I'm going to be surveying everyone in the health field thinking of this video😆😆😆

I was definitely all of them in one day on my very first day of work lol. But some patients are just more talkative than others. I always explain what I’m about to do so that helps break the silence lol. Sometimes they will ask questions about it.

I actually like the hygienist that just talk about anything. It keeps me at ease and distracted from the exam. I hate sitting in the chair and all I hear is the drill and the hygienist just staring at me with their cold eyes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for covering your mouth AND your nose. I haven't been to a dentist since I left home 17 years ago because I couldn't stand all the hygienists breathing into my mouth. I know it's not the most comfortable for the individual (I'm a surgical tech myself, so I wear masks all the time), but it really is a gross feeling having someone breathe into your open mouth.

I just started! But I'm definitely a "talk the entire time" hygienist. lol It may throw me off my routine and I'll forget if I scaled certain surfaces. Ooops! lol Need to work on that. Lol, just found your channel and love it. Subscribing! I would love to know your full day oral hygiene routine. I saw your night time routine but I am wondering where you fit in the waterpik? After meals? And is it true we shouldn’t be rinsing after brushing our teeth? Something about not diluting the fluoride?

Yessss! Great suggestion! I will update my morning & evening routines - and try to make it a "daily routine" video! Thanks! And yes - there is research that shows it may be beneficial to not rinse after using toothpaste. However, for people who think that's gross and want smooth teeth - fluoride mouthwashes can benefit in that way - also! That's what I've been doing lately :) I brush, floss, rinse, and then use a fluoride mouth wash and I won't eat or drink for 30 mins. Hope this helps!

Could you please make a video how to talk to patients about referral to perio specialist when they have very severe pockets ? And do you say we can refer you specialist if you desire or do you say you can search online for private perio specialist and they might be able to save your tooth by offering bone grafts or laser therapy.i am new dental hygienist .Thank you for your help with your all videos

Omg yes I always stare at the ceiling day dreaming because I have a dental anxiety rip me I have to go this week I have childhood trauma of being handled by butcher doctors/dentists and I have huge trust issues I would be sometime paired with a hygienist talking with the dentist and she would be gossiping 😂

Always! I always help! Every office is different - but in my office, we are in charge of our own rooms, and if there's time we'll help with our coworkers rooms, as well. It's a group effort :)

I'm pulling in 60,000+ annually as a hygienist at 28yrs old. I clean every little thing I see that needs cleaning where I work ( not just the teeth ) . Having a can do attitude/helping the office as a whole is what's lead me to success.

My hygienist talks about herself ALL THE TIME, she told my wife "do you have your husbands life insurance up to date? Just in case he drops dead from a stroke." My wife was so shocked, and it was scary...I've been walking and losing weight but she still kept telling her stuff like that...so we switched Dentists.

Restorative work that is properly done won't come out from a cleaning, so in short probably not :)

I have to concentrate in order to do a good job. I'm not a big talker but if a patient is super friendly and starts off with a lot of talking I may talk too much and don't do as good of a job. Then I feel guilty.

Hey just wondering I’m a guy who’s looking into doing this. Is it very rare for guys to do it? And are they often looked down on? Also how hard is the board exam?

There are less guys but NOT AT ALL LOOKED DOWN ON! The ADHA president this year is actually a male hygienist!!! :) As for the board exam - if you attend an accredited DH school & you prepare and study your best - you will succeed. Hope this helps! Thanks again for watching!
