Being from central Arizona, I've always dreamed of being able to explore the Rocky Mountains. The Grand Tetons have been at the top of my list for a while, and after hearing about and seeing Teewinot Mountain I felt that need to summit the mountain. I am interested in doing what the average person wouldn't or couldn't do. I love the challenge and adventure and this one definitely fits the bill. This Mountain makes you work for it, and after the snow the scary climbing makes you forget how strained your legs are, and before you know it, if you have enough will. You will be where the mountain meets the sky at 12,330 feet.

Appreciate the video. Ran a full marathon and climbed this a few months later…this was the more difficult of the two. One of the few places where you can completely fall off of the summit. I went with a guide who had ropes, crampons, and ice picks, we used everything that day. The reward at the top was certainly worth the effort to get there.

Why was I reminded of the drunken party in One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest when Paul stopped to take a swig from his hydration pack? 😂

Videos like this contribute to why this mountain is dangerous…gives the impression the snowfield is not all that dangerous. Thank God you didn’t slip. One hand on the Go Pro, and ice axe not in self arrest mode.

I want people to know how dangerous and deadly this mountain can be. I filmed going up first snow section but notice I did not or could not film going across the snow field. I put the go pro away and had a proper hold on the ice axe

Teewinot is actually a pretty easy scramble, the reason it's so deadly is Jerry's park at lupine Meadows, see teewinot and because the approach is short Jerry's often attempt it with bad results. Many of these Jerry's think they're climbing the Grand as well. Anyone with some experience in the mountains should find teewinot chill, enjoyable and with breathtaking views only revealed once a top the summit

The Grand is even easier if you take the Owen Spalding. Its just a longer hike up with 4th class scrambling. The exposure doesn't make it harder.

I think I’m doing either this or the Grand next week I’m not sure yet but don’t think I’m gunna go ropeless I’m not that confident PS You might want to learn the proper ice axe grip so in case you fall you can self arrest

“Deadliest climb in the Tetons”? In what respect?
@codiacstudios
@codiacstudios 7 ай бұрын
More fatalities and rescues on this mountain than any other in the Tetons. It is dangerous especially without ropes.

@@codiacstudios, huh, I've climbed the East face of Teewinot a couple times, and other than the pretty extreme exposure, never knew it had such a history of falls, injuries, fatalities and rescues. Thanks for the info. To be honest, my climbing partner and I used ropes during both of our ascents.
