He just clarified on our instagram page. He's not actually recording three tracks, he just has one recording and two other tracks ready to drag and drop his comp as he goes. So one track is the master record track, and the two others are to drop the takes that Chris wants to keep as he goes so he can hear the quick comp when he's cutting the next line (or just do hear it back). I assume sometimes it's worth having two separate playback tracks as some lead vocal lines will occasionally overlap. 1 track records, two tracks playback. Every take is playlisted in order to go back for a more thorough comp later. Let me know if that makes sense!
