Speaking as an American, the Japanese battleship line was a thing of beauty. The lines of their construction were amazing to behold and they rivaled the world through 1945. I do play World of Warships and love the Kongo and Hiei! I did chuckle a little at the Kirishima battling the South Dakota, they seemed to forget the arrival of the USS Washington minutes later. The conflict was sad, but there is still so much pride and national honor for the Japanese and the world to salute these magnificent ships.

Respects to the Imperial Japanese Navy from 🇺🇸. They put up a good fight against us and had some great ships
For the most part I would concur with you as Majestic and Wonderful are quite apt to describe these marvels of engineering and design but...(sips tea and smiles)... The idea of large guns being "outdated" seems predominate only amongst those who've never been on the receiving end of that particular principle.
Thank you for this extremely interesting video recreating these very advanced ships of the Imperial Navy. Congratulations from the UK.

Sunk by Colin Kelly in a suicide attack north of Luzon in 1942. Kelly got the Medal of Honor. Smashed into Haruna with a B-17! He was an Irishman too!

@@deepcosmiclove IJN battleship Haruna was sunk near Kure naval base in late July 1945 by U.S. carrier based aircraft. It was later raised and scrapped in 1947. During the early 1942 battle off Luzon in which Colin Kelly's aircraft was lost, the light cruiser IJN Natori was misidentified as the Haruna. Kelly's aircraft never crashed into a Japanese vessel. It was attacked by A6M Zero fighters and crashed ashore. His body was located near the wreckage.

@@TerryMetz What? Do you mean to say that both the NY and Chicago Times and other major media lied about that? Say it ain't so.

Very interesting stuff! great animations and models! very well done!
it would be fun to have a closer virtual tour on the exterior and interior of each battleship.

No, the Iowa Class Battleships were better. Yamato had bad air defenses and bad AA coverage The Iowa class had better radar and greater accuracy with their guns. Although the Yamato was heavier with better armor. Their guns were equal. The 55 caliber 16inch guns on the Iowa’s were equal to the 45 caliber 18inch guns on the Yamato
