Teizo Kawamura - Judo techniques

Teizo Kawamura was one of the Judo greats - a Kodokan 6th Dan sensei who came to the UK from Japan in1953 and spent a time as chief instructor of the Budokwai Judo Club founded by his countryman Gunji Koizumi. He was a skilled technician and great teacher. This DVD is his demonstration of a wide variety of Judo techniques.

My mother, Sheila Locker, did a course at Lilleshall with Kawamura back in 1953/4.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm currently looking for more information on how judo spread to my local area (Sunderland, UK). Sensei Kawamura taught at a seminar at a local grammar school here in October 1954.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing it with us. However, some techniques are not named correctly, which can lead to a confusion. Ogoshi is named Tsuri goshi.The same with O tsuri goshi and Ko tsuri goshi which are named Ogoshi. Also Uki waza is named Yoko otoshi.
