Tekken 8 Paul phoenix sway cancelling is an important tech to learn to play Paul at pro level. It is not easy though to master it I tried to mention problems and some solutions shown in slow motion so it can help people to understand deeply the movement needed to perform those Paul moves.
The best of all needed is the wall combo 3,2 back sway cancel to deathfist.
I hope after watching this and practicing you will get better understanding about pauls movement.

Thank you for this. The "half sway" remark really stood out to me and the slowdown as well. I now try to hit the up within the step Paul takes and has made my timing better. I do reps of 10 highest i got was 5/10 but i average 2/10. My goal is 7/10. I'll leave some advice for others to help out.

@@onepunchmanPaul I have made progress. You and anyone are free to check out my uploaded 20 second bnb combo clip by clicking on my name image. So what helpd me get this far are 2 things 1. Believing in the back input for sway. I wish the sway cancel timing wasn't jank 2. I cleaned up my death fist input and made it faster by practicing up>crouch dash while not pressing the 2. The key is fastand clean inputs. If I do it correctly the game shows up,n,d,df,f and paul does a crouch dash. That is the timing. 3. Optional: I used simple analysis to show me when jin can recover and when the back input needs to be hit during 32 for sway. I reccommend not to have them on for too long as the flashing colors can get annoying. In Simple analysis characters that are white cannot move so this tells me when that flash for tech roll happens for the opponent.

@@onepunchmanPaul I play with pad but I have the hori alpha and a wasd mixbox I don't use em. I lose everytime I try to play with the stick or mixbox. With the pad I do ok

I also vote for this. I honestly feel for Paul may not be a shortcut or trick or timing thing. It's just d,df,n. I know Kaz crouch dash canceling is done with b+attack input. But the timing for twin pistons is definitely harder than his ws2. Don't quote me but I think to crouch dash cancel from a wave dash is 3 frames. Maybe somebody can confirm this. My issues with Paul: 1. his crouch dash intentionally feels like I can't crouch dash cancel properly like Kaz. It's like the devs want you to go for the second built in crouch dash to get a clean ws move. Even with Kaz and his crouch dash, I could still sidestep up or down and do either d,db,n or d,df,n to get my ws moves out. 2. back sway exists. It overlaps the ws moves which means that doing d,df,n has to be ridiculously clean. At least the devs made it nice not impede or ws4. That move comes out cleanly from a crouch dash.

That's cool and all, but does anyone know how to get a button (an attack) to come out as soon as you enter Sway. As an example df1~sway~df1. I've seen players like Joey Fury do it so well you can't really see the sway. Is it just a matter of timing? Is there a trick to it? Whenever I try it, unless I get like a frame-perfect timing (it feels that way) the button won't register at all. This is important for df1 pressure, because when timed perfectly only a jab can interrupt it. If you're not cancelling it perfectly 12f-moves and even an opponent's df1 can interrupt. You only showed the attacks I'm talking about, but didn't explain if there's a specific method or just timing.

Maybe there is a technique for the initial cancel of sway(3 2 sway, ss, deadfist(, df2, df1 sway, ss ,deadfist easy)? Deadfist hits, but the combo count ends Can't cancel on initial animation sway for start frame =\
