Welcome back to Don Critic, it’s the first episode of my Tekken PlayStation Archive review series. Today we’re beginning the journey through Namco’s Tekken series, starting with the first game that released in 1995 (on the PlayStation). A pioneer in 3D fighting games, but can it stand the test of time against the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat?

My first tekken games was technically tekken 2 and 3 4 5 growing up.

I played the first trilogy of games in this order:2,3 and then 1 mostly because I never heard of Tekken until T2 hit the arcades.

@@DonCritic I'll have to go with T3. It felt so special to play with it's awesome extra modes and characters. When I saw it in the arcades, it was a big deal around my neighborhood.

I was a really big fan of Tekken 2 and 3. The 4th and Tag Tournament games were the last I played. They didn’t really impress me.

The OG trilogy and Tekken 5 are absolute powerhouses 4 was a mess and 6 onwards it’s lost its way

I disagree, T4 is foundation of T5. It introduces non infinite stage , wall stage (though broken lol) and interactive stage like DOA. from Casual player, it’s the best Tekken story. Paul is so cool in his ending. Also Jin change his Mishima Karate to Kyokushin and become semi mishima and very well rounded.

@@kren_saesar T5 was basically a remake of T3 it abandoned pretty much 90% of the new gameplay mechanics I’m talking about the gameplay experience not the endings or Jins fighting style A good game is more than a character change and afew good plot points But if we are going into that…tekken 4’s plot if weak as bud lite Gone are the bigger themes of nepotism and spirituality Gone are the narrative structures that interwoven the entire roster In place are one shot comic book frames with poor voice acting Bringing back kazuya looked desperate af to appeal to lapsed fans The whole Tekken 4 experience is trying to cater to fans of every other fighting game but tekken It’s graphically shameful The soundtrack is inferior and subpar The addition of dialogue is derivative and kinda pointless Putting 4 in the same sentence as 1-3 and 5 is like misspelling the entire sentence It was under rated and regretted by many a dev at namco for more reasons then the few I mentioned

What do you mean, could you text it with simple yet clear explanation? Also you didn't mention the stages. OG player except Korean and competitive player love Tekken 4 too. It is also has darker and seinen vibe. @@tomorrowwestport2620
