Looking back on this, I think shara knew she was going to die, that's why she went to fight. Damn this broke my heart 😢

100% I tried to make that more clearer in this cut. She knew Blade and the Space Knights were the only hope and she was hours away from death. Earth was more likely lost than won at this point but she knew Nick would die trying to win, so she gave her last breath giving him every chance. "All I ask for... is a little more time!"

I had forgotten the brutality of Shara's end. Emotionally powerful, too. Not bad for a kid's show...

I did considerable work nailing this scene to give her the send off she deserves but it made a rough scene even more unsettling in the process... Still it's a pivotal moment which needs to demonstrate why Blade went AWOL. Empathy for the lead character is usually the correct course.

This is a director's cut by myself, but it brings in much of the Japanese visuals. This episode was the most unsettling to make, but it felt right to honor her final appearance.

This episode has some issues either the order/choice of scenes. Scenes cut to things that make no sense. No build up or explanation. Just random things happening with nothing connecting the scenes

Hey, appreciate the feedback. Context would help. I'll provide the "behind the scenes" here for reference. My goal isn't necessarily to "cut" the series, but to make the first half act more like that second half (narrative vs episodic). The last 5 episodes function very close to the original. Unlike earlier episodes which required serious storyboarding (aligning subplots, etc) the past 2 episodes have really just been streamlined from the core series. Funnily enough, most of the rough transitions were in the original English release (which was literally cut and has rough consequential transitions which I can't really work with). The only major deviations are Blade heads out once on the mission to confront Gault, whereas in the original it happens in 2 outings (clearly due to their 18 minute episode limitation). This decision was primarily because I don't buy that 4 enemy teknomen couldn't level the command centre in the time the Space Knights take . A single outing raises the stakes and makes Shara's snap decision to hold them off all the more noble. Feel free to weigh in some more and thanks for supporting the series!

So around the 4:20ish mark, we go from Shara talking to Blade and others, after Ringo agrees to be the distraction, to blade fighting all 4 enemies. Then presumably it took Ringo 30 min to launch and create the diversion , since Blades time is up, and then hes right back to transforming the next minute to confront Galt. The transitions are so abrupt with no context or build up that it makes it seem like random events are taking place and your cutting from thing to thing. I think this could have benefitted from maybe a minute of added content from the original release to give more context/smoother transition. I will say that maybe its because ive seen the anime like 30 times and know theres alot missing, but I do feel like your previous episodes were better cut. @@TeknomanReforged

@@Syth_L0rdAppreciate you sharing your experience here. I do agree having very strong knowledge of the originals can create confusion. It's more telling a different story in that Blade lures the Teknomen away from the catapult and creates a smokescreen so Ringo can take off in 1 direction and Blade in the other. What spans 30 minutes in the show is essentially the 5 minutes of real time seen on screen here. The exchange with Gault is also hastened to not lose the tension. The easy choice would have been to skip the 4v1 scene but the standard I set was "no memorable scenes will be cut" and that certainly was, so the choice was made to integrate it as mentioned above. You're correct it does create a frantic pace, but given the stakes that is somewhat fitting and it makes the enemy Teknomen appear capable of leveling the Command Centre within an hour (I believe the "lunch break" Blade takes was a run time decisions, not a narrative one). Thanks for giving this project a chance. It's clearly near to your heart too!

@@Syth_L0rd Essentially Reforged brings the total runtime down from roughly 12.5hrs to 7.5hrs by combining subplots into singular missions/threads. Since the visuals are sourced from the Japanese 1080p version, additional footage is added and many key scenes are expanded on. Also, several errors are fixed (eg the mistake where Shara/Rapier and Sword's names are mixed up in the original dub and Sword now has her own voice in this episode - it was a man's originally). I love this series but it has aged and the English Version has essentially been abandoned. The goal here is to tell the same story with all the key moments, just streamlined and brushed up to something that can be revisited and passed on. I'd imagine people with a very lose memory won't be able to tell the difference but if it took a veteran like yourself 10 episodes to catch wind I'm stoked the story must feel right until this point. 😆

It's shown as intended. This version consolidates the enemy Teknomen attack into a single encounter. If you're really familiar with the original this is one of the reworks you might notice but this telling does come with some narrative advantages.
