We didn't get a telephone at home until 1979 and that was only because my two sisters had left home and moved from Middlesbrough to Bedford and Mam persuaded Dad to get one so she didn't have to go to the phone box to call them. Every Fiday evening she'd call them and Dad would invariably say, " Woman,just put the phone down and stand on the doorstep and shout, they'll hear you down there with your gob ". She just couldn't get to grips with the concept of talking on the phone in her normal voice, she had to bellow!

The dad voice also the max voice 🤣🤣
