Would not want to demotivate. But a ceiling fan motor runs on single phase current. And if single phase motor speed is regulated/ lowered using a fan regulator, the torque will get reduced drastically. I have experienced this myself. So the design is good. But single phase motor with a fan regulator is something that would call for modifications in a few days. Suggestion. Use washing machine motor with a reduction gearbox instead.
