Nice operation. I’m from the southern USA and grew tobacco the exact same way my entire life. Our farm produced tobacco for past 75 years up until we got out in 2005. All grain and produce now. We have zero rocks in our soils though, thankfully 😅

Used to dark fired. Grows much taller. As a kid, chopped and stocked it. Then hung it in the barn. Always funny when somebody stopped to tell us the barn was on fire from burning sawdust on the floor. Never seen so much acreage. Grandpa had 12 acres, and I think in the 60's that was most a single farmer was allowed for burley and dark fired.

Here in greece we raise tobacco in a very different way but as i see is a very different kind of tobacco. How much do you sell it per kilo? We sell it about 4,5€ / kilo

@@stengit It has been many years since I've worked in tobacco but from when I did it the main difference is harvesting. The planting and topping is the same but here in the US we cut the entire plant by hand and put them on sticks, 5 or so each stick. Then we bring to the barn and hang it for drying and then strip the leaves after dry. This video they had a machine strip the leaves and then they dry in those large baskets I guess.

Hahaha it's impossible to get rid the rocks! It's a shallow soil with bedrock below not very common in US right?
