CK3 has some lovely hidden and secret decisions, the secure the Mediterranean is one of them. This allows you to form a hidden nation that gives you a unique casus belli. This means you can attack ANYONE in the mediterranean sea at WILL. This is insanely op and much more fun than ck3 playing tall. In my opinion, this is one of the coolest things in the game and I want more in a CK3 Update!

14:00 this is actually an intended but unfortunate game mechanic, wherein characters with physical impairments cannot declare certain wars for lands held by characters with "Byzantine traditions" in their culture. It sucks!

It would make sense if he was completely blind, since they used to blind each other to stop them from getting any power. But he still had a working eye!

To be fair, the claims you get from claiming a title represent legalistic claims so it does make sense that local practices do make a difference as to their validity. Though it makes more sense intuitively as something that Greek culture characters or people within Byzantium themselves would care about than outsiders.

I did that as Haestein. Sardinia is really OP cuz of the silver mine and you can get pseudo-primogeniture by turning the Sardinia duchy on elective. I mostly just sat there playing pirate and upgrading my duchy.

For future CK3 videos, you can also marry off your council to individuals with better skill in various areas. Can take some finagling depending on which are lowborn, and which are nobles... But usually it's worth doing as a pre-unpause measure to at least get somewhat decent advisors early. I also agree with the naval combat DLC. I want my warships, darn it!

Naval combat happened so rarely they can literally list it on wikipedia and most of them are at the very end of the time period

I think they should improve the combat in general. It’s just clicking around until stackwipe and waiting around for sieges to end.

I did it as Vikings and as a Matilda play through. The Mediterranean cause for war is very underwhelming because you can only get one county per time.

I don't think naval combat should be a thing in CK3 but I would love to see some kind of weather system. Naval travel was super dangerous back then if you didn't sail at specific times along specific routes. You see a lot of invasions falling flat waiting for the right weather or dying to a storm.

You can’t attack cultures with Byzantine traditions in their culture with a character with any maiming/disabilities You tried to attack them with a one-eyed character.

Oh yeah, this is my prefered start, although I usually start as one of the islands off the coast of Spain so I get the benefits of being in the Iberian Conflict. That border war causi belli is really useful.

If you're attacking the Pope, it takes forever to siege down Rome, it's easier to siege down his three other holdings, and then you don't need to take Rome. Scarred is a good trait.

6:39 they did lose to the byzantines; the war they start in is offensive iirc; if they''d won they'd have Syracuse and I think Malta under their control aswell. I've never seen em win that war.

It was nerfed since it's initially came out, if you go back to version 1.60-1.61 and take the decision each member of your dynasty would give 5% renown growth. But good luck with your campaign.

I believe the reason it wont let you declare is that you need to declare on the dukes/counts that own the territories directly instead of Byzantium? Maybe not though.

1:56 there is a one armed trait. It's called maimed and ruins your stats but you can see the character only has one arm.

Idea for the next CK3 MP video: Download the More Rules mod and set the world of Shattered Duchies, then put Demense and Vassal Limits down as low as they can go. For an extra long game, make everything tribal. Then everyone starts in the same area (spread out over Britain, for example) and you see who can become the strongest. Low demense and vassal limits forces you to stay small and you'll be terrified of noble revolts.

so.. if you don't want to fight the byzantines to get this decission you CAN swear fealty to them; if you form sicily chances are the emperor will just transfer the vassals to you and you can form kingdom titles under them since theyre an empire.

Lol for some reason no one that plays this game notices that you cannot declare war on Greeks using claims if the claimant has a disability/is old, its a part of the Greek traditions. Your character is missing an eye and therefor can not claim Greek titles!

Play as Croatia in VIC 3, you must get old yugoslavia borders back, you must embargo austria ottomans serbia and montenegro, also you cant ally them. If you want more of an challenge as that may seem too easy, here are few rules if you want them - must stay monarchy always, at the end of challenge be at the top 10 great powers. I'm a massive fan at the moment, but I probably wouldn't watch unedited EUIV content at the moment. A few years ago I loved it, I'd watch nearly every episode that arumba would put out for a while there, but nowadays I just don't have the time, and honestly what time I do have I'd rather spend doing something else (like playing paradox games for example XD)

I have 0 interest in naval conquest. Man, I really don’t care for it but it is so easy to envision a simple version where there is just another category added to the warfare tab where like levies there are sailors and instead of Men at arms it’s ships. Bing bang bosh, very simple naval units and organization.

The reason you couldn’t declare war on the Byzantines is because they have a cultural trait that prevents characters that are disfigured from pressing claims and inheriting titles. It’s dumb as hell that it affects you that way, since you are not Greek, but it is what it is I guess.

still commenting to point out the repeating music is really annoying, you should really invest some time in finding more royalty-free music or invest some money in getting more music. it doesnt work for me for a 40 minute video to have the same music repeating over and over again
