This is pure gold. 😂 When my husband and I started eating a vegan diet, suddenly our entire immediate and extended family became experienced nutritionists who knew we were going get a severe protein or vitamin deficiency and ruin our health, and of course were convinced there was nothing substantial we could eat. So many times my husband would get asked, "Are you sure you don't want some salmon patties? Are you sure you want the black bean tacos instead of chicken?" We were even told once that it was pagan/new age and completely against our religion to be vegan... 😮

I'm from a polish family and not going to lie - can relate to this a LOT. Some poles think being vegetarian means you eat fish and chicken haha.

It is always kind of funny to me how we, humans, are to some extent completely unfit for tolerance no matter what when it comes to something we can't fathom or don't relate with. I live in Finland and am an artist so I always hang out in hippie/artsy circles where most people are vegetarian or vegan or gluten-free. Most also turned into dieteticians who of course know it all and I often end up looking like an asshole needing constant lecturing about what is the right way :D I feel you are bad as long as you are doing something different than the people around you, no matter what it is. Great video as always!!!

Friend: I fished all the chicken pieces out. Maybe I missed one? Me: why didn’t you tell me that? Friend: I didn’t think it mattered since I didn’t cook it with the chicken. Me: 🤦🏻‍♀️ 6. Me: what do you have with no meat? Waitress: this bean stew has no meat. Me: (finds cured bacon piece in stew) I thought you said there was no meat? Waitress: oh that’s just for flavoring. 7. - I’ll just eat the side dishes... these baked potatoes and grilled veggies look amazing! - yea, we cook those in animal fat. - 😳 I’ll just have lettuce then. 8. - hey, I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be having the vegetarian menu at your wedding and please make sure it’s gluten free as I’m gluten intolerant - oh... um... can you just send me a list of foods you can eat? - literally everything else - like what? - all veggies, legumes and all gluten-free grains - can you be more specific? - um... just tell your chef to make a vegetarian gluten free menu. They know what to do. - okay, I will! - (comes to wedding: vegetarian menu is not gluten-free because she couldn’t be bothered to tell them... I didn’t know so I ate the “rice” packed with barley and had to leave the wedding early due to pain and discomfort) The number of times these moments happened. 🙄

What I’ve learned from watching all the FAH videos twice within one week is that: -the Irish drink a lot of 7-up (especially flat) -the Irish like potatoes -the Irish are very attached to their mothers -the Ceol agus Ól are a thousand times better once you’ve learned basic Irish on Duolingo -the Catholic Church is not cool (but less because of the whole abuse-thingy and more because of the hours you are forced to spend in mass by the mother-you’re-very-attached-to) -FAH are feckin’ hilarious.

One time my dad went shopping and I asked him to bring some soy cream. He brought soy sauce. His words: „isn’t that the same thing?“

I also think about that scene in My Big Greek Wedding when the fiance comes to meet the Greek-American family and he says he is vegetarian and an aunt doesn't understand what that is. The fiancée says "he doesn't eat meat". Aunt "What do you mean hE DOESN'T EAT MEAT?!.... it's ok I'll make lamb". 😂😂😂

I've been vegan for 3 years now and to my family's credit, they all switched to soy milk and dairy-free butter instead of buying two different kinds.

Once when I was in the hospital, they gave me a soup with meat, I told them I didn't eat that, during dinner time, they tried to trick me into believing they cooked especially for me, they told me it didn't have meat, then, after inspecting the plate, it resulted it was the same soup and they only removed the meat. The years I had to say "no, this has milk", "no, this has meat", etc. whenever they tried to give me something new to eat. My mother started to cook very simple things for me and told me "don't know what to cook for you", so, to stop the frustration for everyone involved, I just started to cook for myself. Because of that, some years later, my mother told me one of her friends said her daughter didn't eat meat, too, then, when she explained how she cooked, she said her daughter only used to remove the meat from the plate after cooking her food with it. Don't know how some people can get it so wrong.

That is so true, my mom brother, sisters and I are vegan, we always made our own food for family gatherings and my aunt was the worse, she'd be mad because you wouldn't eat what she made and she would say "it only has bacon bits in it". EVERYONE also thinks you eat fish and chicken, for some reason it doesn't count as meat??? If anyone has doubts about being vegan, watch the movie "game changer" on Netflix, it explains everything.

As someone who used to be a Redditor, shit like this was way to common.

My extended family when I go back East to visit. They look at me like I'm an alien when I say I don't eat animal products. They do not understand the concept at all. Then they try to be supportive by making me vegetables and potatoes with butter in it. Eventually I have to just break down and eat it for a few days because I get tired of eating potato chips.
