O.K., so it's not my USUAL choice of music -but this posting is in response to a 'special request' from "RobbieIPA" for these two tracks.
The original Temperance Seven were around during the latter part of my days in London's "New Orleans Revival" jazz clubs, but I always enjoyed their re-creation of the music from the 20's and 30's because it sounded so much like the music my father used to play in those early days (see my previous postings of the T.7).
Enjoy it, Robbie!
(And any other like-minded connoisseurs!)

Thanks for your appreciation, they were (and still are, for me) an extremely entertaining group.

Great to listen again. They played at the George in Morden about 1966 and I was one of the teenagers enjoying them.

totally agree - no band has captured the spirit of the early jazz bands except these & bonzos & bob kerr! bilk barber & ball & all those so called trad bands lack the fun & invention! also i LOVE the 'englishness' of these guys! it adds so much more to the whole genre etc etc.......

Played many of their recordings on KFJC back in the 80s to 2000s. Great interpretations of the early music!

Hello mateys, this is Trumpeter keith Maynard, originally from London and, also, part of the revival scene, plus (Confession) -London's Soul-Music scene. I was called either Snakehips, or Mojoman or, in big bands - STAIN 'ARD MAYNARD. I moved to USA taught at Berklee, went to NY, continued teaching -then became a Salvation Army Minister in Harlem. Misya.

Keith, name rings a bell - every move you have made seems like a progression towards a heavenly Nirvana, excepting the last, which will take you beyond the very Pearly Gates themselves! Every blessing!

Mole, these guys are really GOOD! They capture very well the feel and sound of that period much better then many bands who while good, never seem to grab the sound as these guys do. I'm never too big on vocals, I always think they get in the way, but these vocals are pretty darn good too. Thanks.

Last of the four Temps' chart hits (all in 1961). The first and biggest was You're Driving Me Crazy, which became the only trad jazz single of the era to reach no. 1. Then soon afterwards was Pasadena at no. 4. The other two were less successful; Chili Bom Bom reached no. 28 and Charleston improved on that a bit by getting to 22 and just staying in the chart long enough to register in 1962.

Charleston piaty hit skupiny Temperance Seven, ktorý bol v UK rebríčku ako posledná pieseň skupiny osem týždňov od 7. decembra 1961 a skončil na 22.m. Autormi skladby boli C. Mack a J. Johnson. Skupina vznikla v Londýne na Vianoce 1955 z iniciatívy Paula McDowella nar. 15. augusta 1931 v Londýne, ktorý sa stal spevákom skupiny. V roku 1961 mali v TOP 10 dva hity. Na vrchole pieseň You´re Driving Me Crazy.

EARLY Pasadena Roof Orchestra stuff is the only thing I can think of to add to 66gadus' list. If you've never heard it I'd recommend the Savoy Christmas Medley, but anything post-Transatlantic label is grossly overproduced, and completely misses the point, especially their earlier Polydor stuff. The Seven were a superb, faithful sound.

I still so admire the T 7. They were exceptional. Forgive my previous typos. At 65+ my poor-ole hands are arthritic. Chops still work well, though. The title was STRAIN 'ARD MAYNARD. Actually I played with MAYNARD FERGUSON as a dep - often. I miss London so much.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think both these tracks are running slightly fast -the giveaway being Paul McDowell's higer-pitched vocals - either that or he's wearing tight underpants.
