Building out templates in a plugin like this can be so powerful. We have used them for landing pages, funnel pages and even business websites that have multiple companies under one umbrella. Hope you enjoy the video... Be sure to watch my Grinch mode outtakes at the end.. I hope for one day to be able to create a tutorial in one take without any editing... A man can dream, right!🙃

Dear Sir, I have been following your videos on WordPress for months and I do learn a lot from you. Appreciate. The idea in this video to create new page templates by using a custom plugin and therefore can lead to a whole new sub-website (if you would call it) of section B inside current theme website is brilliant. Based on what you have shown in both videos of this subject, I have a few questions to ask for your kind input. 1> you have not explained why you use global variables of $wp_query and $wpdb in one of the plugin functions. Will you create a new video to explain it? 2> the page templates created in the plugin can only be applied to the 'Pages' post type in WordPress. How can we create new templates for 'Posts' post type using the same plugin? 3> Is it possible to create a completely new header and footer template to be used only by the section B sub-website pages (so that the section B page templates php file can use the_header() and the_footer() functions to refer them), while keeping the original header and footer templates to be used by current theme pages? Thank you for your kind attention and I look forward to watching more WordPress videos from you soon.

Why not build your own framework rather then use a platform like WP?

I had built my own framework years ago but clients always requested Wordpress as that is what they are used to. It is also a very large task to maintain your own platform with security updates and changes to php.

@@jherbison I completely understand, not with security though. Its much easier to build your own and deal with that. With php updates you are correct however you can always use the version that works,. not like they are not available and you have plenty of time to update your php code to comply with new version. On the requests by clients to use word press. I have been a web dev since the web was available and had maybe a couple people request wordpress but believe me when they see a custom CMS that will change there mind very quickly. Good video though.

@@joekustek2623 Awesome.. We are getting them off WordPress.. We have build a full admin area that looks nothing like WordPress and they do like it a lot better, but they can still go to WordPress admin if they want... I started programming in 1987 and started building web pages as soon as they were available!! I actually used to administer a BBS!!!

@@jherbison Funny that is exactly what I started with, I was working at a PBS at the time grave yard shift and running BBS out of the building. My supervisor would complain during the day saying why are modems constantly calling in. I said I have no idea.

That’s awesome! The good ole days of commenting directly to a bbs instead of typing the page in the browser. Younger devs don’t understand that!!!
