Since youtube is removing shortly annotations I’d thought I’d back them up so to speak since I think they’re important here. 0:08 Rolling paper until there are no gaps 0:23 untwist it, cut smaller part (7.1) and roll it again using two planar surfaces (for example using ruler) 1:18 Cover with super glue to make it stronger 1:34 cut part 7.2 and roll it into a tube 2:00 cover 7.2 inner surface with PVA glue 2:10 cover part 7.1 with part 7.2

Hi, thank you very much for the templates. I'm trying to make it in scale 2:1 from yours (larger) so I use 0.3mm thick paper. I have the entire lower part with cylinders working fine and without much friction, but I am stuck at the top part, valves specificaly. When I glue the valves (11.1 and 11.2) into the top part 10.1, they seem ok, but when I put the axis 7.1 and 7.2 in it and spin it, the valves open one at a time, but after a few spins they stay open permanently. If I would continue with it, the air would go to all cylinders at once, and the engine wouldn't work. I even tried making a paper spring, similar to the one you made in the throttle for this engine, but even then the valves didnt close, and it was much harder to spin the top axis, so I had to take them out. One thing I didnt figure out from the instructions is whether the full-line rectangle in the parts 11.1 is supposed to be cut out and then glue the complete part 11 to part 10.1 using only the far side of the rectangle and let the side parts of the rectangle free to be flexible. I didnt consider it at the start, so I didnt remove it, maybe this was the mistake? May I ask then, how did you make them close? Do you have any suggestions please? :)

Hello, I didn't try to build scaled up model, but thickness of office paper is about 0.08mm. As for the valves - yes, full-rectangle hole should be cut out, it is needed to place the valve in correct position on detail 10.1 In this model springs for valves are not needed, the valves should be closed by air pressure. The only thing is that they are connecting to part 10.1 with only few drops of glue, I've updated instructions with explanations for valves assembly - please re-download file(the link should be the same)

Hey, been watching almost all of ur videos, and I was wondering if u ever thought of building a model vehicle powered by ur paper engine and fuel on mini CO2 cylinders? that will be epic!! imagine a paper RC model vehicle with realistic sound effects anyway keep up the great work, looking forward for ur next video
@nothingssmore
@nothingssmore 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've already thought about using CO2 cartriges from pneumatic riffles, but whole system seems too sophisticated (and obviously too heavy for paper engine) because it will need additional details like valves, pressure reductors etc.

Any way you could use a small and flexible hose to connect the vehicle to an air compressor?

Could you make a bigger version of the template? In my opinion it's wayyyyy too small for the average person to do even though I do have lots of experience with papercraft it's still near impossible to me.
@nothingssmore

it is rather complex task, because scaling template up will require using more dense paper, and it should be considered in parts sizes; so maybe sometime in future, but not now

I've often struggled with this bit. Didn't know the epoxy and ruler trick =D
@nothingssmore

it is not epoxy, but superglue (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate)

I have a question how do the air work in V2 paper engine if I know i can make my own paper one
@nothingssmore
@nothingssmore Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I understand the question correctly, but if you mean "is it possible to create V2 from paper working on compressed air?" - then yes, and I even saw a video of such a model, although without templates as I remember

Sir,We have to apply each part with super glue

If it is question then no, only some parts need to be covered with super glue - those ones which are need to be reinforced (axis, connecting rods, cams)

Of course you have to join details one to another with glue. I meant that some parts need to be covered with superglue totally
