Alife EU No, he is saying that as a 3 mana card, a 3 mana creature that you purposefully put into the deck will do exactly what you want it to do (aka will be good), and will be synergistic with the rest of your deck. While we can all imagine scenarios where you get an 8 legendary drop off another 8 drop legendary, it is much less likely. Not only is this card difficult to control on which creature death will trigger it, but you are also getting a random one. Getting a random 4 drop, for example, is not nearly as appearling, because it lacks synnergy. It is why cards like unstable portal or Chillwind Yeti are not run in decks (Unstable is run in decks where they need spells, not because of the pure power of the card). They are powerful arena cards as far as individual value goes, but they will lack synnergy with the rest of your deck; synnergy is much more important in constructed than raw card by card power.

In lock and load turns you can either play out a bunch of random cheap spells to get a bunch of cards, or you can do and 8-mana 2 card combo to get a random hunter card and three web spinners. The first one seems a lot better doesn't it?

I think Kippy means that this card will be OBTAINED by casting spells during Lock n' Load turns. At some point this will end up in your hand while playing Lock n' Load. However, Reynad implies that nobody will include Ball of Spiders in a decklist simply because it is too slow.

vol I really dislike the design but the point is that hearthstone is not a pure game of skill and it was never trying to be. Complete bullshit swings and rng will constantly happen and improving is more about playing the percentages than dictating how the game will go. From that perspective including things like big game hunter and choosing whether or not to run high attack cards are just part of metagaming.

vol Yeah, but BGH is not the only cheap single target removal in the game. Right now your low mana creatures are so powerful and mana efficient (I think the 2 mana slot has the biggest powercreep in the game) while being hard to remove, that you don't want to be playing the big creatures. It's super lame that something like Deathwing can get transformed into a sheep or a frog, killed by an execute, assasinated, etc. So we end up with a lot of flood the board strategies, with low mana minions that will stick thanks to deathrattle, or have incredibly powerful abilities for their cost (knife juggler, micromachine, etc) while big creatures are a liability to play. I would like hearthstone more if the single target removal was worse and the aoe removal was better, with less deathrattle minions

vol As OP as BGH is, I think the card is needed for the game. It is just one of those effect that hearthstone cannot not have.. And hoping for it to be removed is more close to a dream than anything else lol..

Gabriel Bueno Sorry for long comment, but I like TBV and wanted to give my opinion on it. I don't think Thunder Bluff Valiant will play an important role by itself, as it is too slow to wait to play it on turn 7 for a 3/6 and usually a 2/2. 7 mana 5/8 worth versus, as Reynad said, Dr. Boom? I'll play Boom. However, I DO think people are underestimating the fact it has 6 health as a five drop, which gives it a very good chance of SURVIVING when played on 5. And that can lead into actual fun stuff, like Garrison Commander then hero power twice on 6 for permanent +4 to one totem and +2 to the second. Not a card-intensive combo, but creates a solid board presence (not to mention taunt totem odds to protect TBV and Garrison Commander with go up to 50/50 when used twice in one turn from a no-totem board, heh). This kind of requires an AoE to clear because the totems just got rather dangerous and can create serious value if you don't AoE it. The only other 5 mana 3/6 is Fen Creeper, and he doesn't see play because he doesn't actually DO anything even if he DOES survive a turn. Sludge Belcher does the same thing, and if it does die, requires a second action to remove/prevent the deathrattle. So unlike Fen, Thunder Bluff Valiant can actually add value to future turns. The most important thing is not being behind on board on turn 5. This is where things like Totem Golem come in. His stats for a turn 2 play (even with overload) will actually enable shaman early game board fighting. Playing a naked Zap-o-matic on 2 is generally a poor usage of Zappy, because he's a high priority removal target (which is sometimes the entire reason for playing him, to eat removal for other minions as a 2 drop). But he fits the curve behind a much beefier turn 2 play of Totem Golem. Sequences like Chow, Totem Golem, Zappy, Shredder will be highly possible, and all are extremely annoying and/or dangerous. So maybe it will be possible for shaman to actually play TBV on curve, just naked, by actually being ahead (or just even) on board. He might as well have taunt like Fen Creeper, because those easy-to-remove hero power totems will actually start coming into play as 2/2s and a 3/1, so you can't allow that kind of value to trade into your minions. :)

Michael King I agree but I don't think TBV will be used in that situation. Zombie Chow, Totem Golem, Wheee and Shredder are not cards being used in the same deck. The deck which I think will take the most value out of him ar the ones who will get a lot of totems in the board early. They'll run things like Chow, Totem Golem and the 3 mana Totemic guy (and maybe more totem-related stuff). If there's already at least one other totem in the field when you put him down, he can already get Quartermaster-like value out of him and swing the game. If a dack like that works out they can get a great finisher in Bloodlust too.

Exactly so yes the combo is good but so is facelessing your rag twice but it doesn't see play because it's just too slow and Gets dealt with too often. Now obviously no one in their right mind would expect tag into double faceless but you understand what I'm aiming for. It takes more then one turn were decks like patron can kill you in one and the most you'll see from them as far as a two turn combo is playing a deathsbite the turn before the OTK. But if we go strictly off of the scenario were it doesn't get dealt with then it's good, but so is a lot of combos.
