My parents had used this in their foyer socket light for a few months now.
It worked nicely until a few weeks ago when the rotor magnet started rubbing against the stator.
Each time it was turned off, it made this horrible grinding sound, which in the long term, could produce some airborne and really harmful magnet filings.
I tried repairing this by opening the motor cover, trying to get access to it so I could fix the magnet...
I instantly came across a soldered-on complex circuit board containing a group of scary capacitors with one of them having a 480v charge.
There's almost no way to properly access the lower screws safely. The board was soldered and working with those things is a tedious task.
I don't think I'll repair this as it's not really worth it.
Tell me in the comments if I should destroy it!

You should get the Bell+Howell Socket Ceiling Fan. It's much better.

Both of mine also have that issue, however, when it’s been on for maybe 10 minutes, the sound goes away. If I turn it on for maybe 2 minutes and turn it back off, it will make a really loud knocking sound when it spins down, but not if it’s been on for much longer. So far, it’s the only issue I’ve had with these. It’s just the stator vibrating against the shaft

I would not recommend running it broken though, The magnet could be grinding small particles into the air that could lead to potential lung damage.

@@Alexthefancollector Have you tried leaving it on for some time? My ones make the sound for 10 minutes or and then they’re dead silent. I opened one up, and it has nothing to do with grinding magnets. The stator fits on the shaft like a shape insert puzzle, and there’s a slight design flaw where the hole in the stator is just slightly bigger than the shape of the shaft, so it can slightly twist around. The “grinding sound” is caused by the stator wiggling back and forth But then again those are just my ones. Maybe your one has a defect I’m unaware of

I knew some kind of quality issue would appear with this at least someday. I made this video just to let people know what could happen.
