The only real similarities between the Philippines and South Korea is that both countries are located in Asia and our cuisines revolve around rice, lol.

Plus Korea was actually a colony of Japan and Japan exerted both negative/positive influences on Korea. When Japan's economy recovered at the end of World War it made sense the next country in Asia to do so whould be Korea which did happen. The Philippines was only briefly conquered by Japan.

darlenefaith correct! i was a bit shocked with #1. It's common pinoy manners to leave ur outdoor shoes outside, especially if bisita k, it's the height of rudeness if you bring ur footwear inside the haus.

Biggest difference: Work/life balance. Koreans work like crazy, both children and adults. Filipinos work hard too but try to spend time with their children. It's not because Koreans don't want to spend time with their children, it's because their society has been conditioned to highly value success in work and school, which almost forces them to work hard to gain the credentials or an upper hand in order to be successful. While this has led to incredible economic progress, it has also led to higher rates of drinking and suicide.

It is because Filipino culture is more of Spanish culture and not of Asian. We are similar to Europeans and Latin Americans in every way. This makes Filipino unique and different in Asia in all aspects (language, values, religion, food, traditional music and clothing, architecture etc.)

I've been to different households, from poor, middle class and rich families sa city and province iba iba naman house rules, merong pwede both shoes and tsinelas ipanlakad sa loob ng bahay, merong bawal yung outside shoes and tsinelas at either nakayapak na lang or bukod yung tsinelas na pambahay, yung iba pati tsinelas pam banyo bukod din.

I think the wearing of shoes inside the house depends on the family or on the size of the house. Before, our house is not that big, the dining area and living space was just connected. The door of our bedroom, which is shared by the five of us in the family, was kept open so the aircon could keep the whole house cool. It's tiny but it's clean and all the shoes should be outside. I miss the old days tho. Now, we're living in a pretty huge house and the shoes or slippers are already allowed to be inside the house. But then again, it depends on the family...
@himasekiwari155

It honestly depends tbh Im just typing the things that could be different in other parts of the philippines. 1. the slipper thing, like some families allow it cause it either tiring to wear it again or like the floor have way to much dust and is made of cement or something but, i know plenty of families that does not wear slippers inside the house and well some gives you a look and some tries to understand tho you know they appriciate the not wearing it in, also some provide extra slippers like for indoor and outdoor (this applies to any asian) (Basically it both a yes and no) 2. Po and Opo does not apply to all areas in the Philippines unless like its a tagalog speaking place then yeh but, in places that speaks bisaya, chabacano or other languages of the PH that doesnt apply instead theres like ofc the referring of some one older or younger out of respect and the volume of how you speak. 3. The farting and burping thing farting is embarrasing and burping well like its okay but you should at least be concious of how you act. Im not from a tagalog speaking area (tho my place know how to speak tagalog) from cebu.

Yeah, I agree with some comments here. While I don't live in the Philippines, I was born and raised here in the States and in my family it's DEFINITELY a no-no to wear outdoor footwear inside the home. It's considered dirty so we wear indoor slippers when we take our shoes off. Pretty much the same with my extended family. So I guess it's a matter of different families or situations they live in. This is news to me. I thought ALL Filipino families take their shoes off. Interesting indeed. Mind blown. LOL ☺

Spanish culture is more closely to the Philippines instead of Korea
@buzyreading
@buzyreading 6 жыл бұрын
Crystal Gem Universe Yes and Chinese. Most of the Filipino food are Chinese influenced. Filipino religion as Roman Catholic is definitely Spanish influenced. When I visited Philippines 2010, I noticed that most young people are so much influenced by the Japanese anime/manga culture. I have never seen so many Otaku outside Japan! In Cebu alone, there are a lot of Japanese restaurants and they even have an official Japanese "matsuri" (festivals). I'm hoping that they will be influenced by the Japanese' cleanliness drive. The respect to the elders are not only Spanish but Chinese influenced. I might be wrong. But respect to our elders is a common thread in all asian countries - east asia and southeast asia. Sorry for the long comment.

Only 2 Differences, unity and education. South Koreans are united and understand the importance of working together to defend themselves from N. Korea and to improve the country. South Koreans also have a better education system. Contrast that with the Philippines. Pinoys will brake down into there separate tribal groups or islands which prevents any unity. The education system is also lacking, the West recognizes the Korean system not the Philippians. Plus people support Duerte even thought he's pretty much at war with his own people and the poor. Cut the drugs from China don't go at war with your people, South Koreans whouldn't.
@anoniwful
@anoniwful 6 жыл бұрын
SirXavior it makes perfect sense if people in the philippines are not unified, the traditions and ethnicity are segmented being archipelagic.. i agree with the education part. The president isnt at war with the people, its the people who are against each other in the name of political parties and affiliation, and moreso, people who use drugs are at war with themselves... +Winz Naive. The only thing that brings Filipinoes together is Catholicism. Without unity no country can be economically prospers, that is one of the many reasons why the Philippeans will always be poor. Each region has a different culture and langauge. Example My Mom speaks Ilocano, Dad speaks Bisaya. People turn to drugs as an "outlet" for there problems if Duerte really cared he would stop the drugs from coming from China. Not shoot to kill policy on innocent civilians. I don't care if you support Duerte or not. Filipinoes have been rated as ignorant when it comes to issues newsinfo.inquirer.net/967145/filipinos-among-most-ignorant-on-issues-concerning-the-nation-says-survey.

Nope, not even religion, that is even a stretch to consider. Philippines will always be poor because the single filipino individual harbours no sense of nationalism at all, theres widespread crab mentality and over all lazy... Thanks for the link, i dont like inquirer tho and i dont support any politician or party, i support the philippines and its government whomever sits. Saying filipinos will forever be poor is like saying you have no hope for your own people.

+Winz Naive. I have hope from an "Individual case". But not as a collective whole. I have faith in you and know you'll be the best you can in your chosen field.I concluded that since your able to debate rationally, unlike other youetubers. But with every Filipino I don't think that this is the case. I agree with the laziness part. Most of my family members are nurses because its the easy way out and they pressure me to do that instead of being an Engineer. They rather me be a lazy nurse then an Engineer. I think we both agree but you put things in a nicer tone :) while I'm bit little mean about it.

SirXavior thank you, such kind words, the sad part of some filipinos being youtube commenters is their lack of respect and objectiveness, mostly dismissive. I come from a poor-below average income family lineage, both parents sides.. i was only able to live comfortably and get into law school because my parents were hardworking and had solid family goals. I agree with you, theres hope for the individual... "If we want change, let's be the catalysts" sadly Filipinos, the majority thereof, treat it as a mere concept, without doing anything. Collectively as a nation we fail to embody patriotism moreso the true filipino core values have been overshadowed by colonial mentality and the notion that we must be spoonfed by our own government without any effort.

@AngryKittens
@AngryKittens 7 жыл бұрын
Yung surname ng babae is retained, pero when addressed WITH the husband (or to highlight the marriage status), ina-add lang ang surname ng lalaki, e.g. if ang babae is Cruz, at ang lalaki is Lopez, tawag sa babae is Cruz y Lopez or Cruz de Lopez, if magkasama sila or gusto mong i-emphasize kung sino ang husband niya. In any other instances, Cruz pa rin ang legal name niya.

Not sure about the slipper thing though some Filipino family practices to take off shoes and slippers before entering the house. Specially if you are entering someone else’s house, it’s a sign of respect. Farting and burping in public has always been frowned upon, people just do it anyway. But most Filipino’s excuses themselves if caught in the middle. Filipino’s do “mano po” or kiss in the cheeks ( beso-beso)
