The Beatles Happiness Is A Warm Gun is not only considered one of the best stand out vocal performances of John Lennons career but also heralded as Paul Mccartney's favorite song on the white album. Created and recorded amidst the darkest epoch of the Beatles as they near disbanding Happiness is a warm gun is a collection of 4 distantly unique sequences that brought back the fab four into actually collaboration. Camaraderie was waining, tensions were mounted, and the end war near. But during the white album there existed a handful of moments in which the band was back together, with every single member commenting how much they thoroughly enjoyed the song and its creation in the studio.

Gotta say I always loved George the most tho, he was the “silent beatle” and that’s what I loved about him. It was hard for awhile for me to go back and forth between John and paul bc their both so equally talented, but it came down to who George was as a person.

Yeah, this song was left on the album about heroin, while so many of those beautiful songs that appeared Harrison's on All Things Must Pass where left out. Imo, a song written and vetoed as not being a Beatles song in 66' would have fit this side even better, not to mention it was extreamly deep.... The Art of Dieing. Jmo

Interesting facts, for sure. You missed one: Window pane, or windowpane, was a street name for acid in the 60s and 70s.
@hippydippy
@hippydippy 3 жыл бұрын
@Johnny Morphine No... It was liquid LSD formed into a thin gel, cured, then cut into tiny pieces. Here we had 4 way amber & brown windowpane. You could see through it (hence the name.) If you were brave enough & put one in your eye, it would dissolve in less than 2 minutes & you would sky rocket off to Mars instantly. It was the good shit. Trees would turn into cartoons, you'd feel yourself melt through walls, everything was alive etc. I did a lot of it & loved it!
@TupDigital
@TupDigital 3 жыл бұрын
What hippy said- they are translucent gel tabs, a form of conveyance for Uncle Cid. I can attest that windowpane was still readily available for dissolving on (someone who isn't you) tongues in 2004, as thats the last time I had the quixotic pleasure of seeing it in person(PA, USA). But being its just a vehicle, im sure that as we speak some trays of it are congealing somewhere in a town near you. Cheeahs

Maybe. But windowpane came into usage much later than '68. At least where I lived in Philadelphia.

What a treasure, what a gift to last a lifetime and a really big shoutout for ''Hollyhobs'' for always painting a beautiful picture of their phenomena for each new generation to be amazed that this actually happened during the 60s. Thanks to everyone who admired The Beatles because their magic still brings so much happiness to those who just have a listen. The Beatles had it all and heaps more:)

I love hearing about the Beatles story. It is the love of their music. Also when they noticed how good each other were. And appreciated each others talent. Splicing music or speech with 1/4 Inch tape, a White Chinagraph, and a razor blade is not all that difficult if you are organized and without distractions. You get into a sort of zone where all you can think about is the editing task at hand. Bits of tape held onto the tape machine (Usually a Tandberg machine for spoken word, or maybe an Otari MTR10 or a Studer A80 for music as they could hold NAB spools) with words like "Breath" or "Um", "Er" or stuff like "last 4 bars of take 1" or "Alternate ending" in White Chinagraph pencil were valuable tools to get it just right. I learned how to edit with tape but tape is sooooo expensive these days, that I don't bother with it.. and after re-learning on digital, I figure that it's made editing that much easier so any untrained kid can do it.

Glass Onion was a deliberate attempt by John to mislead all the conspiracists who were looking for hidden meanings in the Beatles songs. Thus the reasons for references to previous Beatles songs. John was not a fan of the song calling it "a throwaway" John had done this previously on ' I am the Walrus' - "yellow matter custard" for instance was just a reference to a rhyme John and his mates used sing as children in Liverpool - as John said to his friend Pete Shotton - "let the f****ers work this one out" lol
