Great review. Mine gets delivered today and think it’s going to be perfect for my needs. Very well presented, man.

There's something very James May about your presentation style which I enjoy - and that's not even taking into account the hair... I've recently gone down the route of switching to a Deuter hiking backpack with a camera insert for the comfort benefits that brings, as I tend to be out long hours in the tropics with wildlife kit. I have a Tenba BYOB 10 DSLR insert and am impressed with the quality of it. It was also priced very competitively compared to the more fashionable brands like Peak Design, f-stop etc.

Ooh great choice! I actually have that same insert and I really rate it - I was previously using it in that Fjallraven backpack. Deuter bags are great - I really wish more of the hiking/sports bag makers would branch out into camera bags. I think EVOC are the only ones currently doing that

Perfect review, thank you so much! I have the lowepro 450 AW II for work days and I need a day pack next to that, this would be perfect I think.

First time I've seen a bag review that makes me appreciate my current bags more. Mindshift Ultralight is my #1.

The camouflage has to go. Your point about the weatherproofing not being significant is exactly the advice I needed.

Thank you for the video. I use mine for my lighter walk around kit and so far it’s worked out pretty good. Use Shimoda Explorer 30L and 35L and several Mindshift Backlight bags as well. I pack the top with a pouch with pockets to hold cables, memory cards, charger and other assessories..

You have a very nice, james may esque approach to this, and whilst i am choosing photography for college, im using this for travelling and everyday school use and I think youve sold me on this. Great video!

Update! You sold me on it. Solid bad. Will really put it to the test in the travel I'm going to go on in a few months.

Amazing review Robert. You got a very soothing and calming voice. I just picked this bag a week ago. Been using shimoda 40 V1 for past 4 years. The weight reduction is tremendous on this one. I feel the waist straps on this one can be alot better and like you said the accessories pockets are missing very much especially the stap pockets which I miss from the shimoda.
@robert_may
@robert_may 4 ай бұрын
Thanks very much! Yeah the weight difference between this and the Shimoda bags is pretty huge - I still use this Tenba bag when I'm taking a smaller setup out with me for the day. Even with the few things it's lacking, it's just a nice sized and practical bag 😀

I have the 10L version and just ordered the 16L one. I agreed about using magnets instead of velcros. And about four pockets on the camera back panel.

Thank you. I was planning on getting this but as you rightly pointed out, there isn't really any dedicated space for accessories and that is a deal breaker. Sad as I really liked the look of it.

I've been wanting a smaller camera bag and finally got Tenba Fulton after trying it on. Comparing Wandrd and Peak Design, this is the cheapest and functional.

Hi, can you fit a peak design capture clip on the straps?
@robert_may
@robert_may 11 ай бұрын
Yes you can! It’ll compress the padding a bit but it fits quite easily.

I plan to go on a trip to Vietnam. Do you think this would be good as a carryon bag with my camera?
@robert_may
@robert_may Жыл бұрын
I don’t fly very often myself, but this bag should be well within the limits on most airlines for carry-on. If you want your camera gear, a laptop, and a bunch of other bits in the cabin with you - absolutely! It’s a great and compact bag 😀
@Xyxphz

@@robert_may Thanks! Do both versions of the bag come with a rain cover?
@robert_may
@robert_may Жыл бұрын
@@Xyxphz I believe it’s only the All-Weather variants that come with the cover. Should be possible to grab a third-party cover or possibly an official one from Tenba separately otherwise, though!

I'm going to be completely honest. I've never come across your channel before and this is the first video I've watched. I also did not pay attention to your name, rather focused on the bag review, and my first impressions were that you remind me very much of a young James May. Then I noticed your surname. Are you actually related, or is it just a coincidence you share the name and mannerisms?
@robert_may

Haha there's very much a passing resemblance between James May and my family, but as far as I know we're not related 😆 I do share a suspicious number of hobbies with him as well 🤔

Does it stand on its own?
@robert_may
@robert_may Жыл бұрын
Depends on what's in it, but it does usually stand up alright for me. It's not very deep though so any notable weight in the front pocket will likely unbalance it.

Don't knock yourself, it's not uninteresting ;-). Btw, you could always get one of those small stitch removal tools and remove the velcro...

Can it fit a sigma 150-600mm lens?
@robert_may
@robert_may 3 күн бұрын
Good question! Which model specifically? I think it'd fit the DSLR 150-600 Contemporary, but I'm not sure about the DSLR Sport model or the mirrorless version of the lens 🤔 I think it's tall enough, the only question would be about whether it's deep enough for them (the lens hood being the more awkward part).

@@robert_may I have the DLSR 150-600 contemporary. Just looking for a camera bag that has some extra storage for clothes and lunch for photography days out. This bag looked perfect but worried it won't fit.
@robert_may
@robert_may 3 күн бұрын
@@natalieanda4938 Just whipped out the tape measure and the lens itself will fit comfortably, albeit not with a camera body attached to it. I _think_ the hood would fit too (when reversed on the lens) but I haven't found dimensions for that so I'm not certain (if you can measure the diameter of it and stick it in a reply I can check again 👍) I hope that helps! Tenba do have some other models that are larger as well, but I haven't had a chance to try those out yet.
@natalieanda4938
@natalieanda4938 3 күн бұрын
@@robert_may Thank you so much for your help. Diameter of the lens hood is 127mm. If need be I can pop it in the top section for travelling.
@robert_may
@robert_may 3 күн бұрын
@@natalieanda4938 Ooh ok yeah I think that'll fit. The bag is slightly deeper at the bottom and I usually put my camera bodies sideways into it down there, and those are 130mm+. I also just tested it with the 130mm hood of my Nikon 180-600 lens and that fits comfortably (quick photo: www.icloud.com/photos/#013iiEglV9kuWNev4SWNWoRrw). You might feel it through the padding slightly depending on how full the bag is, but as that section would be in the small of the back anyway I actually find that pretty comfortable.
