You're amazing, thanks for answering the biggest question since I bought my Tenere.

I’ve always thought about doing this test on my t7 great to know thanks for the info it lasted longer then I thought I normally go of about 50km per fuel bar so around the 300 but now I’ll have less fuel anxiety now 👍

That’s brilliant, great video content that actually matters. Nice work!

Am planning a trip from Perth to, and around Tassie later this year. Good to know this, but I won't be doing 75-80 kph out on the Eyre Highway and Nullarbor.

Thanks for this! I ran this test as well last year on mine. I had a trip coming up , with lots of off-road and I needed to answer the fuel range anxiety question once and for all The low fuel bar is a dirty trick. I got about 112km once it went to low fuel light. So for my type of riding, I plan my stops on 325km to be safe, but could likely get 380km if I needed to if I started conserving once fuel gets low. I think highway riding is a different beast. My ‘21 tenere seems to eat gas if running freeway speeds. Backroad and off-road stuff were not running high and sustained rpm’s , it does ok.

That is cool to see. I did a video when I ran my T7 dry (although my "test" wasnt deliberate) and I ran out at 108km on reserve (353km total). That is remarkably similar to yours. Just remember that 350km on the odometer is actually 320km in reality.... or maybe the L/100 that the computer says is conservative.

Thanks mate. Yea that’s true, the Speedo is out around 10% so the kms are probably out also. Didn’t really think of that.

I've found on my 2020 T7 that I get 4.5l/100klm and travel 100klm before the first block on the useless gauge disappears, then 150klm more until the low fuel warning comes on, then on or about 100klm on that. So I get 350klm per 16lt tank. I never carry any luggage as I'm only on day rides, but I am a fat bastard @ 145Kg Now those figures are including some Hwy and some dirt, but I also ride HARD!

Hello from Tennessee. Good test. First time watcher... what tires have you settled on? I went too aggressive on my front. It's wearing poorly and too dang loud.

Hey! Thanks, I’ve since moved the T7 on but for most of its running I used a motoz dual venture on the front. It wore pretty even and you can switch it around the maximise its life. Every other front I used wore uneven on the T7.

Im guessing 106.7km on the fuel light.

Hey, I have the acerbis 22l tank on mine and the fuel light comes on roughly the same time. I got 50 miles on the light and filled up and put 21 litres in so if I had ran it dry I would of got 65-70 miles on the light. Hope that’s any help to anyone

Ridden hard you can be out of fuel in 170 miles, so I allways fill up before that.

As exciting as it is to know that i can get this sort of mileage from my tenere, what I found more exciting was 1:36... did you say that you're planning some outback trips on the big girl?

Nothing locked in just yet mate, but i'd like to get the T7 into the outback at some stage.

👍. Would have expected at least 400 km’s. Easy. Not 350. 420 - 450 till it starts starving. But I believe every driver should know how far they can drive on a tank of fuel.. interesting to know how this compares to your 400?

What speed are you guys sitting on, 275 k's is the best I've got dead empty. I've even switched to the funnel web air filters

110-120 on the freeways. 275 seems a bit low 🤔

Which fuel gauge you think is more useless, the t7 or the mt09? lol. Just got my mt09 and planning to get a t7 in a few months. Mt09 one is really useless, specially with its 14L capacity...

Do you not reset the tripmeter when you fill up? Just wondering why you had to calculate how many km you travelled?
@_JoshJB_

Not really a need too when I have a fuel gauge. I had calculated distance from last fill up to home on my GPS and then added the remaining to that number 👍🏼

Hi all, from OEM specs and by own experience, the meter starts blinking when there are 4 liters left. The onboard computer tells you the average as well as the current actual fuel consumption quite accurately. Therefore, it seems non sense IMHO to test the "how far can you go with 4 liters" within the last bit. On street about 80 km - off road is less. Have fun, cheers

Yea it’s the question of how long is a piece of string. This is just a rough guide in some mostly optimal riding conditions.

I was surprised when mine dropped to under 4L per 100km when I was fully loaded with gear and on twisty gravel hilly roads and riding fairly hard. In theory would of got 400km under those conditions, on tarmac it does about 4.5 unloaded so about 350km range so presumably it's sitting on higher revs rather than load that counts.

So, just putting it out there. We have been saying the bottom half of the gauge isn't accurate. Maybe it is after all. Maybe half full is indeed half full.

It just might be! Only issue is that the blinking light causes anxiety, even though it still has plenty of juice left! 🤪
