Tenerife Adventure by Honda NC750X - Episode 1: It's time for my next TMF tour! In this three part mini-series I hook up once again with my friends at Canary Motorcycle Tours for a ride exploring the island of Tenerife. With it's mountainous interior (including the worlds third largest volcano by the way) Tenerife makes for a fabulous place to catch some warm winter riding. Stick around and stay tuned! Some cracking views there! As you said, you probably won't get too many tyres squaring off with all those corners and hairpins. I took out a (non DCT) NC750X for a couple of hours from Abingdon Blade and Rob was extremely helpful. It has the same power as last years Street Twin but gave no indication of being boring. It was comfortable, felt lighter than it was, kept up with Motorway traffic, handled A & B roads with ease and returned just over 78 miles per gallon. So well over 200 miles between fill ups! I would happily have one to commute, tour or just have a blast on a Sunday! Oh and the 'Frunk' was big enough for my Bell full face helmet once I removed the Scala unit and it took me 15-20 mins to get used to the reversed horn & indicator buttons....

Great video. I have the American 2013 NC700x and love it for touring purposes. Yeah, it doesn't pull your arms off or launch you back on your seat, but it's a good everyday ride and tours well. Look forward to the next video.

I love the NC 😍 I did a trip from Germany 🇩🇪 till China 🇨🇳 with the NC750X including the Pamir Highway in Tajikistan 🇹🇯. Two people with a lot of luggage (around 400kg total weight). Three months 22.000km and 23 countries and we had ZERO problems. Nothing!!! Not even a flat tire. The terrain was very hard sometimes with a lot of off-road kilometers (see my videos) where I dropped it many times and still nothing happened to it :) but if I would do a world trip on a motorcycle I would still go with my CRF250L now :)

Hi from Oz. I went from a BMW 1150GS to the NC. Love it. You can wring it’s neck and still be at sane speeds. It does everything pretty well, rather than just one thing brilliantly.

I did the NC500 on the NC700X, hired it from a place in Inverness, and was pleasantly surprised how comfortable and suitable it was for touring. I ride a 1200GS and was quite taken by the wee Honda. Only niggle was the single brake on the front, going down a steep and twisty hill required a bit more planning.

Very much looking forward to part 2! Reason I say so: in October I drove from the south of Tenerife up to the North, on to the TF12 (like in this vid), then ran with that all the way past Mirador Cruz Del Carmen, across San Cristobal and on to the Teide road (full TF24 from start to finish) and down to Adeje again. While I liked the TF12 a lot (it really feels like you are driving through an exotic jungle), seeing this video leaves me with the impression that it's actually permanently damp (as it was for me as well). Also lots of fog higher up and especially around the Mirador (Mirador = viewing point, but not much to see with all the fog). The TF24 however... I thought I had seen some spectacular roads in the Alps this summer, but that was truly special. As the center/north of the island was fogged up, the first part had these magical views where you were driving through ancient forests and then coming out onto views of clouds as far as the eye could see. Then at some point you break through the tree barrier and it just gets better and better. Clean, new roads (over the full length), dry, great visibility, and it just goes on and on and on and on (even the part back down to Adeje is pretty nice). The only strong recommendation I would make is to start by going North first. If you drive from the south (where the hotels are) up, you will just queu behind the cars going to the Teide. But hardly anyone approaches from the North, and if you make an early start you'll also avoid the cars going back down again. From Las Rosas up to the observatory, I had the road pretty much to myself for a full 45 kilometers (and it's a busy island)...

Spent a week over on Gran Canaria last February with Martin and Ken but we couldn't get over to Tenerife due to the weather, so I went over for a week this November riding a hired Kawasaki Versys 650. Probably there the week before you I guess. I liked Gran Canaria, but I loved Tenerife. Fortunately the weather was quite good, and the views were amazing. I'll definitely return once or twice a year from now on for some winter riding...

You fortunate guy. Nice weather, always warm feet (volcano), riding a bike; who needs more. I was on a ferry to Norway, about 6 years ago, and the ride was quite bumpy. I saw a lot of greenish looking people then. I love mountains; maybe because I live in a very flat country. Beautiful rough landscapes. Stargazing, love that too. In Austria there were so much more stars visible than were I live, I couldn't find the star signs at first. Lovely ride

I’m actually on Gran Canaria and yesterday we did a circular ride round the island. My favourite road was the GC200 it was just incredible. The ferry port you left from is where I took a couple of photos of the coast and the clouds. You were right about GC it’s just awesome and perfect for bikers. Mind you we did our tour yesterday on 125 Kymco scooters. Tenerife looks awesome too. Flying back home today back to the winter.

I am close to ordering one but when I look at the reputation and added maintenance costs of double clutch car and automated manual transmissions in cars and trucks, I am minded to stay with a simple manual clutch. A lot less complexity and potential for less dealer visits formost in my mind. As someone who is not commuting, convince me I am seeing this wrong?

Ray Collington you are Ray, the NC DCT is perfect for commuting as well as touring, I’ve done both and fully loaded. The manual gearbox finds the redline quickly, the DCT g/box in one of the sport modes is great. Handles well, is light on the go and has the ‘frunk’ which is great for carrying gear without luggage. Have you ridden one?

It's a fantastic ride/drive along the 'spine' of the island to Teide. Theres also a wonderful descent into Los Gigantes where we usually stay. Never hired a bike on the island but very tempted now. And you are riding a red NC750.

Wow those mountain roads with those views! Very nice. Telling you what, 1440p or 4K would have been cool for this vid.

To make you feel better TMF, I think some of the thumbs down are a smart TV user mistake where the watcher finishes the video and quickly tries to give the thumbs up and hits the wrong one. I know, I've done it myself. If you consider it like that it takes the sting out and distroys the thumb down man his fun :-)

@@pilotdaffy on my phone if you go to hit play it has sometimes changed from landscape to portrait quickly, when you go to hit play, it's then a thumbs down, happened to me a few times, makes me feel bad.

Great video! Looks like a beautiful ride. I own an NC750X. There are more beautiful and faster bikes, but it is a great all rounder. Under rated in reviews by some critics who judge it by what it isnt, rather than for all it has to offer. Looking forward to the next episode. Good video as usual. cheers

Hi from Hobart TMF. Entertaining guided tour once again, your typed edits bringing chuckles from the lounge room audience. The NC750X is on my short (ish) list of bikes to replace my learner 250 (Suzuki Inazuma 250) so will be keen to hear your thoughts when you get the review completed… will test ride myself in the new year I hope. On a side note…. the catamaran you travelled over on, may have been (hard to tell from the inside) an Incat ferry, they have a few running over there, made right here in Hobart ….. wave piercing catamarans…. Well meant to be ;-) , known for some interesting crossing experiences for those without sea legs, a worried murmur went around the couch when we saw the ferry and the sea crashing in the background… glad to see you made it back.

Will be over in Tenerife in three weeks, unfortunately not on two wheels though. Hope you had the chance to take the roads to Masca. If not, worth a visit, if you like hairpin bends.

Thanks James, I'm not complaining but of course you do only get to see the good bits - trust me I have my own share of trials and tribulations too......nobody is immune from the crap life can throw at you (alas!).
