Puerto de la Cruz, one of the most beautiful and amazing places i've ever been to, i'd love to live there. I love Tenerife. The climate on the North side is perfect.

Climate on the north side does not suit me? I come out in a prickly heat rash. I cannot spend very long there from about April to October.

Garachico is pretty touristy! But also very interesting and beautiful. Santa Cruz, and La Laguna very beautiful cities with amazing old parts, and Anaga and Teno mountains both well worth a visit.

Was in Playa las Americas, went down to the beach. Wind was really strong, sand was flying into the air, waves getting bigger and bigger. A palm tree had snapped and was on the pavement. In the little apartment, spent the night as far as possible from the (floor-to-ceiling) glass patio doors... the howling of the winds just went on and on. This storm came out of nowhere. I only discovered it was a Cat 3 hurricane (Tropical Storm) when returned to the UK. There was not as much damage as there could have been given the unexpected arrival, but it was still a pretty terrifying experience with no warning / no preparation. The start and finish of the holiday week were bright and sunny and typically Tenerife!

It is one giant volcano! It’s kinda like the Hawaii of the Atlantic. Similar climate to Florida, and the canaries (La Gomera) were where Columbus made his final stop before sailing to the America’s. It’s has huge amounts of culture and history and nature. Well worth a visit!

@@nick260682 much dryer than florida. In the canaries we dont get as much rain as florida does, and winters can get cold on the islands

Like all the islands of the archipelago, Tenerife is classed as an active volcano - Teide. Last eruption 1909. There are approximately 320 vents on Tenerife, BUT only Teide, Pico Vico, Montana Blanca and Montana Rajada are classes as 'Active albeit Dormant,' as all have erupted within the last 10000 years. The vents like Mostaza, Chinyero, Negras, etc; are all monogenetic scoring cones - meaning they became active, erupted in a Stromboli style, with activity and pauses over a period of time, then stopped, as in STOPPED. They never become active again. I can suggest several books about the geology / volcanic activity; some are written for the curious person, some are directed at the geological and vulcanogical community.

Would have been nice to shoot some film, say at the end of January, large area covered by snow and ice, which when it melts, feed the aquifers deep inside the island, from which the pump the mineral water for bottling. I lived there a few years and had many vacations as well, got to visit many of these places. Definitely worth getting off the beaten track and exploring. Roads are pretty good now, much different from when I first went there, no barriers etc then, quite hair-raising sometimes!! Lol Many dirt / stone roads also , through the forests, take food and water tho, and have a full tank of fuel!

Some winters there is hardly any snow, and as a result even less ice. I have seen snow in Granadilla, in March, 6 metres at tbe top station of the Teleferico. The following winter nothing! Just a very cold wind blowing in from Africa. Then it rained - for 48 hours at low levels. One year it snowed the end of May on Teide, but Pico Viejo was not affected. Mid September we walked up from Montana Blanca freezing cold, and frozen rain, which had started after we we had reached Alta Vista. By 09:00 you would not have known Teide was white at sunrise.

The volcanoes of Tenerife are not hidden are in sight. They are 321. What happens is that they are badly named and are often called mountains when in fact they are volcanoes. Mountain Red, Mustard Mountain, Mountain War, etc, etc ... all are extinct volcanoes or volcanic cones.

In 2021 this proved wrong.
@Volcano-Man
@Volcano-Man 2 жыл бұрын
@@rd8370 No it didn't. La Palma is a totally separate island, The recorded volcanic activity on Tenerife is: Boca Cangrejo - (Mouth of the Crab), 1492; 1704 - Fasnia / Siemens Fuentes; 1706 - Montana Negras - (Black Mountain), which destroyed several villages,and Garachico; 1798 - Chahora or Narices del Teide - (Teide's Nostrils), 1909 - El Chinyero. Then in 2003 - 2008 is a series of seismic tremors occurred which was thought to portend an eruption. Analysis showed it was magmatic fluids ~10^11 cubic metres had been emplaced in to the edifice. Make no mistake 'Teide es dorma' - Teide Sleeps; and one day it will reactivate. The Santiago Ridge is considered to be the possible location, but until the magma reaches the surface no eruption will have occurred!

Just because you don’t understand the science, doesn’t mean it isn’t true. There are a number of different methods of dating, and if they converge on a date you can be pretty certain they’re close to the actual date. On Tenerife you can literally see which bits are older by the valleys that have been cut by rain water. The newer bits created by the lava have far less valleys/barrancos. And the radiometic dating confirms this. Your argument from incredulity fallacy doesn’t mean dating methods don’t work.
