Very respectful and knowledgeable jeweller who appreciates more than just the money or jewelery but the history and meaning of the pieces as well. Wonderful episode

*I could watch Kevin Zavian all day long.* _By far the most entertaining appraiser to watch._ *He reminds me of the Italian mafia and the actor who always played a mobster... Dennis Farina. They could be TWINS.*

So, back in the 40ies, the pearl mussels lived in the Tennessee River - and even so much of them, that the pearls were not considered of much value. An then, as so often - our species "played god". The whole biological environment changed, the mussels died out (and i'm very sure not only the mussels) Surely, there had to be a reason to build that dam - but sadly, no one gave a thought that there must be consequences by doing so and now, the mussels (and pearls) are faded memories of the elderly. Such stories make me always so sad. And - as such is happening all around the globe - it saddens me even more. It's an ongoing process of Exploitation and a mindset of "profit/money over environment". We, as human beings, should be able to learn of our mistakes - but instead we seem to further destroy anything and everything we put our greedy hands on! Think about the rainforest a moment: I'm sure there are plants that are able to cure diseases. But instead of making efforts to preserve and look at them scientificly, we destroy them. And not only rainforests, also moores, rivers etc. These are fragile habitats, where one algae, one mineral, plant, insect, frog is involved like the rings of a chain. And, once destroyed, it will never come back. I don't even know, why i felt the need to write this all down and english is clearly not my first language (so - very sorry for that, too) But maybe one person out there did understand what i wanted to point out... So - just in case - Thank you for your patience (and feel free to correct me)
