I like to hit sidespin slice on most my slices, I find players struggle with them quite alot since it curves away or into them.
@timevalueoftennis28664 жыл бұрын
That's a very effective slice, specially when you mix it up with some straight up slices.

I’m a one handed backhand player and the slice is my weapon!👍🏽

I have studied Ashley Barty’s slice backhand. For and old guy, my slice is pretty darn good.

Thank you for the video. A lot of interesting information about slice backhand. I have the problem with the low balls on my backhand side . Especially when they are coming cross. and fast . IMO there are 2 options to solve this problem. Either to hit them back as a backhand groundstroke (top spin) or as backhand slice. The first one needs a good footwork to get low position.Not easy by fast cross balls. The second one is IMO slice. What do you think about? Which one would you prefer in which situation and how to manage them?

There is a slice drive available to the one handed players IF they get rid of their butt cap. Or at least grind the bevels off. Then add the overgrip with spray adhesive. Before surgery on your favorite rackets try this out with a throw away to see if you like the technique. Pinky finger just barely on bottom edge of handle. Here goes: Start with the Kuerten backhand grip. Forefinger pad on bevel 5, the racket edge. ROTATE one bevel to the right, forefinger pad resting on bevel 6. Allow thumb to stick out straight across bevel 7. Thumb drive! Now you have a backhand grip that will hit a slice, a flat drive, a rolled drive, high balls, and a lob simply by adjusting your forward swing. Very sneaky dubs player grip. Enjoy.

short slice to their backhand and frozen rope dtl are silent killers. People overhit or dump the short one, and can't get under the low one to their wide fh.

As he noted he hit 2 amazing ones and a few others that were ok... geez way too many for a teaching pro that were 2+ feet over the net. Balls this height will be attacked by your opponent. I wouldnt be focused on slice side spins until you have some control on the slice height w/backspin the most important part.

Wouldn't you rather the ball spinning into the court so it stays in rather than spinning away and the ball drifting out.
@seansaxon6414 жыл бұрын
To do that, you have to hit it cross court, and then it is moving back towards your opponent. By having it spin away from the court, it also spins away from your opponent, and is more likely to cause them to have to hit in on the run. It creates a defensive shot from your opponent, which will likely give you a chance at an offensive play from the net.

Slice is a variation for defence, breaking rally rythm, even attacking and rushing to the net Although this shouldn't be the only way of hitting backhand or you actually still suck at tennis
