Do you sometimes mishit your forehand?
In order to hit clean forehands that land deep in the court, you need to move the racket in a very specific way around contact.
Getting this wrong is one of the most common forehand problems we see today.
In this video OTI Instructor Nadim Naser shows you how to clean up the hitting zone on your forehand so that you can consistently hit clean crisp shots!

Great video. Guys and gals pay attention as this is good sound advice. There are so many youtube lessons about lag and snap and windshield wiper action that are simply bad. Just before, during and just after contact, the wrist angle and arm structure DO NOT CHANGE. You still use core rotation to drive the swing and generate the power. Trying to "snap" the wrist or swipe upward suddenly in a windshield wiper action before or during contact is going to give you an inconsistent forehand and a good chance of injury over time.

Thanks Nadim..... This is the holy grail of the forehand shot. I've heard it before, and I love hearing it again, and again and again. Because when I follow this simple advice, my forehands land where I want, when I want with the pace I want. Thank you.... And have a great Thanksgiving.

sorry, but No... this is NOT what the best Fhs do. They do not continue out towards the target after contact. They start across just PRIOR to contact and go out & to the left of the target for right handers.

Just by doing this, one becomes much more consistent off the ground and difficult to beat. My 2.5 friend and I practiced this today, and boy did it help with the consistency, net clearance, depth of shot.

Actually, this is straight out of Vic Braden’s Tennis for Future, published in 1975? Does it apply today? Linear theory has been replaced with angular rotation.
@NadimNaser
@NadimNaser 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. It does indeed apply today and when you slow down player’s strokes you will still see this concept. The fact that there is more rotation today is due to a few factors, including the increased force these players are under, the grip structures which allow for more spin and heavy shots (hence more coiling and uncoiling) and racket material. The court dimensions haven’t changed so the “meaning of the strike zone” needs to remain in tact for the ball to go there. Again, pros and very high level players can deviate from these fundamentals but will go right back to them when needed. Best wishes

You stick with Vic Braden kid,,,, The so called new FH does make you over rotate and that s why pros never get to the net , Their weight is off balanced. Vic Braden was and is the best I teach his method to my students and you want to lead with the elbow too

@@kingarthurusatenniscoach1415 Thanks King, but I don’t think so. Tennis is not a robotic game. However I understand the need for a foundation, and there is a much better way. Regarding getting to the net…your theory is questionable. The speed of the game (ball) has taken precious time away from the net rusher…thus they get passed more often if they just charge the net. Good luck building your robots.

It´s really important to end the swing movement on the tip of your right leg toes?
@NadimNaser
@NadimNaser 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Fernando, thank you for your question. For purposes of ensuring proper balance and weight transfer, ending on your back leg toes is a great check point. When you play at full speed (in a match for example) you will likely go past that point - so that you can recover - but not at the expense of being on balance first.

Hi Nadim: what you show is beautiful but... Almost all instructors show the sample of the stroke (shadowing included) when the ball is at the knee to the hip level where the ball is the easiest to hit and all mechanics work. The problem is that I get 70% of the balls at about shoulder level and sometimes at my ears level. Now, all the beautiful mechanics go down to a drain. So heating the ball at shoulder/head level, should I use reverse forehand, play "topspin" swinging across (like car wiper), or hit it flat aiming at the end of the court (which is very risky shot)?
@sameehazahid2271
@sameehazahid2271 6 ай бұрын
Well this is kind of a late reply but if they r coming to your shoulder you should move back and position yourself better or you could hit it on the rise although that’s a little harder but still effective. Hope that helps!

Except Flush is NOT what you want and not how the pros contact. Not being flush is how they torque the ball to create spin. The also don't use the same wrist position you say here but instead they adjust the wrist position at contact to avoid hitting flush, but instead creating torque to spin the ball.
