Karue really is pretty selfless in all of this and I really appreciate that from him. Like he even hits left handed and rips a few into the net so that he can demonstrate this in the most novice way and really get a feel for the experience of lower level players (without really worrying about his reputation). There are a lot of people out there trying to sell you things who would never do that, they would make sure they always look amazing so they can sell you their product. What a truly devoted coach!!! So humbled and inspired by his content.

I think this is literally the *MOST* important detail about learning tennis. People get hung up on how to put more spin on their strokes, or getting more power, or increasing the accuracy of their serve. But if you never master footwork, you'll always suck even if your form is near-perfect.

Karue's footwork is so next level. He not only sets up perfectly for each shot, but you can see he even does it efficiently, like once he gets into position he kind of relaxes a little bit. I think I need to learn that, b/c I jitter and hop around so much that I just get exhausted.

I like this advise. Footwork videos can often feel a little intimidating to me since it feels like I'm being asked to memorize dance moves. These tips are some much easier to convert to practice.

Thanks, Karue, you are a great coach. It's good to have everything explained and demonstrated so clearly. Personally, I prefer watching your right-handed shots as they provide a good mental image to imitate. But I understand the point you are making with the non-dominant hand shots. Thanks again, Karue.

Great lesson Karue. Visualization of the movement so critical. There's also a pre-visualization of the ball flight/path before the hit. maybe you can discuss this visualization in the future. Too many rec guys just going out there and hitting without shot intent and visualization.

Great tips man, working on my footwork always few months in tennis training. . Not easy to get in ideal position every shot such as neutral stance for forehand, recommended for beginners, bigger hitting zone as my coach said. And closed stance 1 handed backhand. But i try my best always & do the split step too ✊️

First time I watch this tennis channel and I am impressed because the content is great and well explained. Fast and rush movements not mean gret tennis, footwork is key as a foundation of everything else that is going to happen when shooting the ball.

Thank you for sharing your videos. They've helped my play tremendously. What brand of balls do you practice with. Some balls I've used seem to feel different and actually hurt my elbow. I'm a huge fan of Wilson US Opens ED but players rather play with whats being used at the club league level. Advise?

Thank you so much. 💓 in our club court etiquette is often forgotten. Like 1) people crossing over on our sides without permission from players even if there's another exit - thus causing distractions. 2) People at the audience yelling or being noisy while a point is in play. 3)Some players don't like it when you drink water every three games. They make faces etc. 4)cheaters who deliberately call out just to get a point... Is there a nice reference for us on tennis etiquette?

Awesome video Karue. It is interesting to see how the opposite arm looks when hitting your left vs right forehand. With the righty forehand, the left arm naturally catches the racquet and it flows seamlessly. With the lefty forehand, the right arm stiffly drops prior to contact.

The opposite arm is so important for proper body turn. I strugled with FH for long, until I figured out it is due to ill position/body turn (shoulders too open), but when I started to use the opposite arm it all fits well. Thanks Karue! Obviously, with 2-handed BH had no problems like that as shoulders turn by default.

Very helpful tips! I always run to close to the ball and then end up being to close for a good quality swing. The visualization might help to keep my distance and allowing to stretch my arm and push my body into the shot. Need to try it out, thanks!

Yep! Like I mention in the video, try to stay away from the bounce of the ball so the ball can get to your strike zone

My 2 pennies worth (I have to think about these). 1. Just because you visualised where the ball will be doesn't mean you can stop looking at it, v easy to assume you are correct and then it's not where you expect (e.g. bounced different, wind caught it) and you don't see because you've already looked away. 2. Hard to move when you are swinging the racket, so the larger your swing the earlier you need to be in place and the more confident you need to be of your read on the ball. If you don't think you can judge it well (e.g. a heavy slice) then a smaller swing allows later movement so you can adjust even after the bounce.

Hey man, I have been playing tennis since I was around 6 ish in sweden and I just got back into the game as a 26 year old and after a 2-3 year break. I meet some really good tennis college players sometimes with a really, really heavy kick serve / pancake serve / inside out serve and I just can't seem to deal with it very well. I would really like a video from you on how to approach these and time these better!

Karue, you big show off: hitting with the left hand. Very funny. My very first instructor did emphasize on footwork so I think I'm ok. My problem is when the ball coming straight at me and I get jammed, don't know moving left or right = missing the shot. I am bad at meeting the ball in-range and correct arm length as well. You always hit it with a straight arm + on the sweet spot. I tried to practice the 'head still' like Federer but still miss the sweet spot. I guess I have to stay at the wall for a while. Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks.

Most people probably visualize mostly on what their stroke will look like and neglect what their feet will look like getting to the ball. I guess it's natural b/c you can't really run in front of a mirror unless you have a really big house with a really big mirror. I'm guilty of this and will work on it. Thanks.

Is there a drill or a trick to better judge the ball and the bounce? I see a lot of beginners have no idea how to judge the ball. Especially when different spins are coming at them and varying depth and speed.

Also curious about this. My method (just teaching the gf) is for the student to say "bounce-hit" to themselves as they track and hit the ball. Forces them to factor the pace, spin, and their relative distance. Other than that, it might just be intuition that's simply accumulated from playing.

I have always put my attention only to swing path, tacke back and never really put much work on my footwork. And just today a coach get it on being stable and wide at contact. What a BIG difference it was. When my feet are in position, all seems much more easy and the ball is getting out fast and strong.

Someone said to me don’t look at the ball but visualize a box the size of your strike zone comes to you and you need to get infront to stop it then you will have a clean contact 90% of the time

I remember Roger Federer saying that the worlds best players are the worlds best movers (footwork) not neccessarily the fastest movers i.e. smooth and efficient footwork.
