One of the things I picked up from you and Iga is how both of you demonstrated a slightly hooded or closed racket face. I find this helps keep the ball from "sailing," or hitting long.

Nailed it. 60% of the time our girls get greedy overhit this shot, resulting in what should be an easy point, being given to the opponent.

i do terrible with the mid court balls, i tend to always put them in the damn net, and now i see why, im not using my legs that much, im doing more of a flat hit but without going down and exploting upwards, thanks for the video will try it next time and will tell my couch to help with the drills

I could have used this last night in my doubles match. After hitting mid court balls most of the match for winners with spin, my opponent even told me that she was having real issues with it, I got greedy at the end and tried to crush it flat and put two game points in the net.
