This is the best tennis video I have seen so far on the breakdown of a tennis swings. I even had lesson and none of the coaches broke it down like that.

Thanks for taking time to show the technique. The rubber band method just fixed my forehand. I literally just went out and played my best match ever. 😊

I've created an image in my mind that helps bring the thinga you explained all togheter without focusing too much on the form. I pretend there is like a rainbow that starts at my right side and finish on my left side. The most important thig is that this rainbow never starts behind me but in line with my right shoulder. This rainbow is a little tilted to maintain the low to high swingpath. The thing i need to do is "launching" the racquet to this imaginary semi circular path and if a want more pentration i need to squeeze the rainbow to get more extention, while if a want more spin o need an angled shot i make it a little shorter. What do you think?

What about the butt cap to face the ball before hitting? Was told about this during a tennis lesson. Is that necessary?
@Tennisdoctorofficial
@Tennisdoctorofficial 10 ай бұрын
yes, but don't fixate on that- it will be a byproduct of leading with the body and having the racquet come through as the last part of the swing.

First of all, congratulations on your videos... I think they're great!!! I have a problem with the "pat the dog" phase... because my arm and wrist are relaxed, the racket in that phase is not parallel to the ground... it falls 45 degrees, resulting in inconsistency in the shot..... It is normal??? how could I solve it???.. thank you very much in advance... keep it up!!!!
@Tennisdoctorofficial
@Tennisdoctorofficial 10 ай бұрын
Yes, the strings don't need to be flat with the ground, 45 degrees will suffice. Do these two things. 1. keep your non hitting hand on the throat of the racquet and only let go when the ball bounces to your side. After you pat the dog focus on exaggerating the the wind shield wiper phase in the follow through. You need to cover the ball with your wrist laid back in order to get spin and control. Hope this helps

I used to have this 45 degree angle at pat the dog phase too, but not sure if you have the same problem as mine. I will tell you what my problem is and you could figure it out if it's the same to you. I came from playing badminton, so I am used to hold the racquet more in the finger roots less in the palm, and it took me a while to realise that you shouldn't have space between palm and the racquet when you are hitting forehand or backhand. So what fixes mine issue is I readjust the racquet position to let it fill in my whole palm, and makes the pat the dog to flat with the ground. Hope this helps. But if your racquet does fill in your palm, like the coach says, it shouldn't be a problem. The problem I had was more about the racquet moves too freely in my hand, which causes unsteady racquet head at contact and hand bliss, and that 45 degree angle is merely just one of the sign of having that problem.

How do you time the windshield wiper motion? Seems almost impossible to start it exactly at ball contact, because it happens so fast.
@m27gio

Yeah you can’t, it has to be unconscious and a natural trajectory from your swing. If you focus on it it’ll be too handsy and slow and mistimed

my only gripe with your forehand VIncent, is that you bend your arm at contact. Nothing wrong with it but you would get more power if you arm was straight at contact. Great videos though man keep em going because they´re more on point than anything out there on yt. Kudos
