Stylistically, Ali would have been a terrible match up for Stevenson. Stevenson was too upright, dropped his left all the time, and his footwork was not great. Ali would start out jabbing the shit out of Stevenson, and then moving away easily when Stevenson tried to unload. Any time Stevenson was off balance, or careless, he'd eat a right cross. A puncher's chance at best - and Ali had faced bigger power guys.

Fighting Stevenson was like fighting a Pro. The dude was 31 years old and in his prime. The Cuban fighters were not allowed to go pro. 72, 76 & 80 Gold Medalist. Stevenson was no doubt huge in Cuba and content with his standing. It would have been interesting to see him at the Pro level. With the exception of the Communist blocked Countries Stevenson was a lot older than the majority of his opponents. He was a Man fighting boys. That's why it sucks that he never went Pro. I mean he's knocking out John Tate in 76 Olympics and Tate 3 years later is fighting for and Winning the WBA Version of the Heavyweight title. It's just a shame as he got older he was never able to go out on his on but then again if Don King or Bob Arum would have gotten a hold of him he probably wouldn't have made the money you think he would have. He probably would have went back broke. So in hindsight he probably was more richer in Cuba.

Why would a fighter do an exhibition with a good probability of ending like Biggs. Stevenson right may have been strongest punch of any fighter in 70s So many fighters avoided him.
