For an artist, the rog z13 has a far inferior display. I really hope Asus will make a lovechild between the slate and the z13. The slate is almost perfect as it is if it only had a CPU and RAM that would match the rest of its otherwise excellent hardware, mainly the excellent display.

Not too sure about replacement tips for the ASUS pen though. Replacement tips are usually easier to find for pens that last more than one generation and used by more than one device, such as pens from Apple, Samsung and Microsoft.

I've ordered the Tab S8 Ultra. Review may be out late Feb or early March. It's certainly a pricey tablet. Whether it's worth the money really depends on what you do. The main advantage of iPad is the huge variety of drawing and graphic design apps available, e.g. Affinity Photo, Photoshop. If you look at all the random thumbnails you see on KZfaq, to create those thumbnails with Android is very difficult because of the lack of good graphic design apps. That's the main downside. So if you need graphic design apps, go with iPad. Other than that, for drawing, there's Clip Studio Paint on Android. For photo editing there's Adobe Lightroom. And soon for video editing there's LumaFusion. The Samsung also has better file management system, micro SD card slot, external monitor support, desktop mode, pen is included not sold separately

The oled screen really tempted me but there were so many negative comments. Should I just stick to iPad 9th generation for 250 bucks ?

@@Omeruy iPad will provide a smoother, more pleasant experience. OLED isn't a main selling point for me even though it is for many.

It can do the job, but the specification isn't that good for the price. For your use case, you can get iPad or Samsung Galaxy tablets with S Pens. I probably recommend Samsung more if you're not into drawing and graphic design. It is important to note that Microsoft mobile apps are not full featured as desktop Microsoft apps.

If it's just drawing, consider iPad or Samsung Tab S series tablet with included S Pen. For versatility, a Windows tablet like the Surface Pro 8 or 9 may be better. Apple and Samsung still has better pen performance than Microsoft.

@@himanshugiri4898 Most Windows tablets are expensive so there's no mid-range unless you're looking at older models. Unless you really need Windows, getting Android tablets would be cheaper and the best budget tablet currently is Xiaomi Pad 5 with Xiaomi Smart Pen.

Second to this. It is better to get something like Tab S7 FE WiFi 128|6 (when it's on sale ofc) than something as expensive and underpowered as 13 Slate I hope that in 5 years Windows on ARM will get better, only then windows tablets would be good investment

Have you looked at the Surface Pro 7+ line, you can get a 11th gen i3 with keyboard for about 600usd? Might not be bundled with a pen but you can buy one of you liking.

Apparently Surface Pro 8 (latest) is quite good, and the pen is finally good (actually as its response in the tablet), while some of the previous versions had been horrid. I'd rather have a full real OS (vs Android or IOS), with a solid file system, and with full compatibility with my work apps. I understand the "on the go solution" to allow me at least some basic editing of my ongoing projects, or to be able to do some light tasks of said projects. Obviously leaving the heavy work for the desktop. But I'd agree getting a S7 FE is a smart move. Mostly due to the 12 inches screen. To me real state space to draw is more important than many other factors. The thing is with a Windows tablet you get a ton of compatibility with professional software. For me that'd be a requirement more than nice thing to have. I'd double check though that the tablet can be color calibrated (it seems he could not calibrate this one...but maybe there's some trick to make it possible, and there are software-only (DisplayCal) calibrators in Windows, as a very poor fallback, but it's something). I calibrate all my monitors, I think it's essential. For all I know, you can't really calibrate a Samsung, not even the pro one (about that one...at that price I'd go for an iPad Pro M1). And, to my surprise, neither hardware calibrate an iPad Pro. Yep, colors are pretty neat by default (but not perfect!), but yet so, calibration is important. I can't see it worth it though to put more than 500-600 bucks to illustrate "on the go". That's why despite all the remarkable problems, I'd go for a S7 FE, an iPad standard of this year (379$) but with an Apple Pencil 1st generation, as is compatible, and would look at a Surface Go 3, but Brad says he finds it kindda slow... The S7 FE, despite a worse screen and kind of weak CPU (yet generous in RAM) can be a good solution on the go for sketching. Another option is a second hand iPad Pro. One of the first ones to have Apple Pencil 2.0 might be a neat solution (also in cost). And I mean the 12.9 inches ones.
