When I graduated from Navy Recruit Training (i.e. Boot Camp), my parents took me to Epcot for Unaccompanied Leave. Teppan Edo was where we had dinner. The food was wonderful. It was my first experience with warm Sake, so I did not understand why it was so small, and how I managed to polish it off so quickly. In retrospect, it's a marvel that I managed to get down the stairs, and, likewise, across the Quarterdeck at the barracks, without falling down.

Your reviews were exactly why I haven't been there and are pretty consistent with other reviewers....OK food, nothing special (compared to other Hibachi restaurants) but def. expensive compared to other off property Hibachi restaurants across the country (with more options). Glad you did this restaurant to solidify my opinion! Thanks guys!

Ryno is right on with there being better hibachi options outside the Disney bubble. The "show" was cute, but it's less than what your used to if you've eaten at other hibachi places. No fire tricks, no throwing shrimp, etc.. I also wish they made fried rice on the grill and gave you that with the udon instead of the white rice.

The team hit the nail on the head exactly about how my wife and I felt about our visit there after the last renovation sometime in 2018, I think. We went every visit in the 90's and loved it but were not impressed this last time. It was 'good enough' but For those prices we would spend our money elsewhere. That said I totally agree with Craig on that salad! We never were able to try the other restaurant in the building but Love the Yakatori House. The Japan World Showcase is the one we have the most photos of and love to visit every trip so no disrespect is meant. A cool thing my wife discovered while waiting for our seating last time was looking out the round windows of the hall into the gardens gave her the sense of one of the Chinese cork diorama carvings that we own. I can't imagine this wasn't intentional and was something we discovered after going to the parks at least 25 times over the past 30 years. Thanks team for a great, fair and balaced review. Yummy,Yummy!!😂

@@DISUnlimited Still a fan of that X-Men shirt you wore a few weeks ago. Please take this as a constructive criticism but do you think that you and Rhino could possibly be a bit jaded during these food reviews. Everything was meh except the salad/dressing and the two sauces. In some way, food critics just have to be more descriptive. Please for a little homework, watch a dozen of Pete’s reviews. I’m not asking you to become Pete, but he never talks fancy, rarely coarsely, just down to earth, but always interestingly. Even when a signature restaurant is just meh, he says it with such disgust. And he always mentions a place that made the dish much better. Or he praises the dish highly, and the server highly. Your chef seemed amazing, yet you seemed to praise her like you might say “she kept her uniform clear”. Here is another homework assignment for you and Rhino, watch a few episodes of DFB (Disney Food Blog). I guess they are the ‘enemy’, but even when she has to spit hard facts, it’s with personality. I hope others here don’t think I’m attacking you, I just want to see your personalities shine through. Go review Hood-de-Doo or some place fun that you absolutely love, let your love of Disney shine through again. Pete absolutely rips on places, yet his love of Disney never fails to shine through, while you and Rhino seem to shine tolerance of Disney. Or indifference, at best. I want to see you guys on fire! Grab your favorites snacks in the parks, each of you, and shine forth in a video, blaze!

This was a very good, honest review. I ate there while on vacation many years ago, and was very disappointed. I remember my steak and chicken being very dry. It was nice to see a female chef. On that note, she seemed very entertaining. I live in central NJ, and there is a Japanese steakhouse near the Jersey shore that tops all others. It’s in Brick, NJ, and has been around for years. It’s always crowded, and consistently good! It’s called IKKO Japanese Steakhouse. They have a hibachi side and a sushi side. The amount of food each person gets on the hibachi side is incredible. While your entree selection is being cooked, everyone gets a clear soup, salad with ginger dressing and a huge portion of hibachi noodles and rice. They are simply delicious! It’s worth the trip if you are near Ocean County, New Jersey.

Most of us prefer sticking to would we recommend it or not. Like any review, it’s subjective and it’s a snapshot of our moment there - not like a movie or a book that will be the same with every viewing or reading but just your life changes around it. Keeping it simpler is… simpler.

This is teppanyaki, not hibachi. Hibachi is cooking over a grill over charcoal or wood fire. Teppanyaki is cooking on a steel plate
@animationdude5
@animationdude5 Жыл бұрын
Even though you are correct, both terms have become muddled in the American restaurant landscape. Many teppanyaki-style restaurants themselves include "hibachi" in either their official name or description of their cuisine. Therefore, many Americans have only ever known this type of Japanese food as hibachi.

It's cool that there's a Hibachi at Disney! Do I have one close to me? Yes. Have I ever been here before? No. Do I want to come here someday? Yes! This place intrigues me and I know scientifically speaking everything in Disney tastes better, but those little touches in the show I saw are what seals the deal for me! I wouldn't come by myself but I'd go with a group for sure!

We did this place once, pre-covid. Finally talked my husband into going and such a let down. Habachi chef was great however when it came to the rice our meal took a quick turn. Both my husband and my sons bowl had a long black hair nestled in the rice. 🤦‍♀️. We alerted our wait staff and a manger came out. She was very rude, offered no discount or replacement. Basically we were rushed out quickly as I’m sure they didn’t want what had happened privy to surrounding diners. My husband had a very hard time paying for the meal that day. It was an overall bad experience.

Fun dining review. I have been twice. Not lately. Probably only because of the make up of my dining party and/or because there are so many other dining choices in EPCOT. I do think Teppan Edo is a solid/safe choice. But like Ryno also commented- I can go to the local teppan table restaurant near where I live. But I do think it does hold its value for the options it offers. Safe bet. Now if you asked me to dine at Teppan Edo or Coral Reef (I haven't yet tried Coral Reef), I'd pick Teppan Edo.

The problem is that it's too much like your neighborhood Hibachi restaurant(same as their Chinese restaurant)-just double the price. 😏 Especially at EPCOT there are just too many other better choices there. Unless Hibachi is your favorite or it's a family tradition or something I would go to Germany, France, Italy, Morocco or Garden Grill ( one of the best character dining experiences on property). Our family leans heavily on the Garden Grill and Via Napoli side for "standard" dining and Monsignor Paul for a splurge. But they just have too many really good options to pay double for what is standard Hibachi.🤷‍♀️

Just like any restaurant - they checked to make sure what her allergy was and proceeded to use caution with prep, but she did say she was okay with the risk of cross contamination if I remember hearing her correctly. Honestly, the only dairy in the restaurant is butter or cream cheese in sushi rolls, and egg would be in the Yum Yum sauce so I'd say it's safe. Shellfish allergies - avoid.

We tried Teppan Edo last year since I love hibachi. We had a large party so we were at our own table which was nice. Service was ok. The lady was extremely nice but very short with us. I do not count that against her because you could tell they were stretched thin on staff. Food was also “meh”. I understand they’re cooking for a wide variety of people so it’s got to be basic but it was bland. I can find better hibachi locally for cheaper. If you’re looking for a safe option to try hibachi for your first time or don’t have hibachi back home, this is an ok place to go, but just know there are better alternatives.

It's always been good enough for what it is, but of course, when EPCOT opened it was more unique as aside from major cities with Benihanas in them the style was not as well known to the average American diner. The last time WE ate there a couple of years ago was as part of a combo package with reserved area tickets for the annual Christmas Candlelight ceremony, and from the location to the ease of timing THAT was a deal worth paying for. In that context, I'd go again. Otherwise? Meh--like you said nothing WRONG just nothing "right" enough to compare to the more exotic things in EPCOT. One thing you didn't mention that I could look up but....do those prices go up when it becomes "Dinner" instead of "lunch"??
