"Recently a magazine approached me and said, we're doing a special issue on the apocalypse or something, and would you write a little thing about what people should do before the end of history? And I thought about it, and all I could come up with was a list of negatives. I think that there are a whole lot of things not to be done. Not to consume, not to watch.
Voyeurism is the sadomasochistic virus of the age. It's why people watch TV. It's why they are able to distance themselves from their emotions. Voyeurism is the subtle sin of the age. Not to consume, not to believe these ideologies, all of them, from Clinton liberalism to David Koresh and back again. Don't believe this stuff.
Not to follow. There is nobody to follow. The people who aspire to lead should be caged and taken away in shackles. That should be how we identify the people who should be caged and taken away in shackles. Those who step forward to lead us are such squirrels that they should be immediately quarantined.
So this is it.
It's a retraction from the myths and idols of the tribe. Get with your body, your mind, your lover, your friends, and then not consume, not follow, not believe, not watch."
