In the past, both soprano and mezzo voices were much brighter than today. Even some famous contraltos of the past had brighter voices than many sopranos today. One of my great teachers had been a lyric coloratura at major houses, and she passed on her training that the soprano and the lyric mezzo, had as a major factor in nearly all their characters, that the characters are young women. It was a vital part of their acting job to sound young, since the voice matures older than the characters are.

the class and the charm of this woman! both the dress and the hair are awful but when she opens her mouth we are plunged directly in the most musical xviii century: a sense of word, the ease and grace in the rendition. the quality of the video is not great but her smiles while singing are

Good technique makes it look effortless. But believe me, it’s super, super hard to sing like this. It takes years of training....

Listen to Tito Schippa sing it here on KZfaq. Diction comes first. He was from a town near Sienna, which was known for the best Italian.

Webarton If you can’t hear it, it’s hard to prove it to you. But if you listen to soprano Victoria de los Angeles immediately afterwards you should hear the difference in vocal quality as soon.

as long as you have correct technique it should be an easier piece.. not easy but easier
