When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance against Skynet, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator assassin, an unexpected turn of events creates an altered timeline. Instead of a scared waitress, Sarah is a skilled fighter and has a Terminator guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger) by her side. Yes all this was pre-planned and they knew exactly what they had to do in advance. In T2 the plan wasn't to kill the T-1000, just to escape so it wouldn't know where they were and survive Judgement Day

@Owen Ling Byung-hun Lee is a phenomenal actor, just not in Hollywood because he doesn't speak English fluently. Therefore he ends up getting relegated to the token Asian martial arts guy cuz of his looks and body, when in fact he's one of the best that Korean cinema has to offer. Watch any Korean movie with him in it and you'll see Jai Courtney couldn't touch the man's toes in acting ability

Ploy of T1000 is always to appear hurt & weak. The T1000 mimicking Sarah Connor from T2's final battle also said something like "help me, I'm hurt" before the real Sarah arrived.

If in doubt shoot to maim !? Sarah wasn't quite sure so she shot a less vital area for a human to survive!? If she was more confident with the choice of the 2.... she would have done torso or head shot!? You can't kill it with gun anyway so she did the right thing... listened to both & made the decision! Kinda like king Solomon in the Bible!? He determined the real mother of a child by the fact she didn't want her child to be harmed!!! While the other woman didn't care!? I like how even though the T1000 can run at 40 mph, it still feels it's important to walk towards Sarah in a slow, menacing stroll, even as it's getting melted. Such dedication to drama, bravo.

There were a lot of moments in T2 where the T-1000 did the menacing stroll towards people as well though, lol. It didn't always go full sprint mode, for whatever reason, unless it was chasing vehicles.

@@DeathBringer769 Its said in canon only 1 T1000 was ever made and the reason He was a prototype was because it had better Human interaction unlike the T800. But in addition to this, its theorised the T1000 could accually detect emotions in its programming because it was so advanced. This is something they should of done in the newer Terminator movies, simple making the newer models not just more powerful but more human, making them seem more scary but also vunerable to emotions, and change of will and decision making.

Despite the issues with the movie, this was actually a pretty decent solution to the problem without going full on magma. Liquid metal has greater surface area than raw metal and it makes it easy to damage nanobots by simply dunking it in acid.

I agree, the fact molecular level matters is the units simultaneous strength and weakness. It can take way more punishment of one kind, but far less of another. Basically, it's a mud puppy to anything that molecularly alters metal quickly. Concentrated acid? Just the ticket! That's also why plasma weapons work against these units.

Yeah. I liked that the years they had to play the fight with the T1000 led to them actually having a believable plan. And using acid to dissolve the liquid metal was pretty believable in my opinion.

@@ranger_who Well, why did the T2 T1000 follow Sarah and John toward the intense heat that was clearly causing it to glitch. Why did the T1 Terminator keep going after Sarah even though Sarah went into a press that Sarah would be able activate. The robots have a one track mind when it comes to chasing down prey. They are willing to finish the job even if it means their destruction.

Long after the war against the machines was won investigators going through Skynet's programming code discovered what was once called an Easter egg by programmers. I remember watching the first Terminator film -The T-800 took hundreds or thousands of bullets to the body -hair and eye brows burned -left eye got shot -got run over by a semi truck -left half of the face torn off by semi truck along with leg injuries -engulfed in flames by Kyle's pipe bomb and semi truck explosion -crippled by Kyle's pipe bomb again -lured into a hydraulic press area by Sarah Finally killing him Yeah, like shotguns and revolvers (like magnums) and much stronger calibers

Yeah when the first movie relied on a lot of practical effects or the second one one was when cgi was just beginning so for both they had to use it sparingly. They worked with the limitations they had and built the pace around that. Now that the process for cgi is more streamlined that original flow is out the window. Now you can throw whatever quick cgi shots like it’s almost nothing. Not to diss cgi but the way they’re using it nowadays doesn’t have the impact it used to.

"Sarah! You gotta help me. I'm hurt." That line, and its delivery, would have revealed the deception. It doesn't sound like the human character it's imitating, but it does sound like an imperfect imitation. A rare moment of subtlety in the film.

It's possible that instant chemical analysis is a weakness in the T-1000. If it has not been exposed to a particular problem or exposure to some external damage agent - it may not be able to react in an intelligent way - or it's logic breaks down. Or a chemical weakness, which did not originally appear evident. Good ( hidden ) weakness!

@@Cyberpuppy63 It may also be analyzing secondary or tertiary objectives against its current objective. When it finishes a mission it doesn't necessarily shut down, and while killing Sarah Connor may result in her termination, it may not be its primary objective. Its primary objective may be to assimilate her, replace her, or otherwise determine the secret of the Connor heritage in the timeline and eliminate it. It may also have analyzed that running may actually worsen the effect, and that by walking, it was prioritizing its mobility over its top half. It may have known it had a chance at more structural integrity if it walked, fell, gathered, and then charged. Everyone assumes this was an acid attack, but I don't think it's that simple. It may have been a nanite attack, or an extreme chemical lubricant, or something meant to react with synthetic skin and liquid metal, so its plan of attack I would agree is likely convoluted. At the very least, the moment it was hit, it may simply have not had a pre-programmed use-case for such a tactic. The T-1000 tends to walk a LOT when it could run, which likely denotes it devoting more processing power to decision making than simple mobility... something human beings excel at due to instinct. We run because it's instinctual, terminator's run when it deems it the best tactic governed by logic. Does seem to slow them all down though.

I think it has more to do with writers taking things over the top since we`ve seen them battle both terminators before. The problem with Hollywood is that they don`t know when to stop and instead just continue to milk the franchise until it becomes a parody of itself. Terminators one through four are all good places to end the franchise.

The real Kyle would never have asked for help due to an injury. He's one of the toughest soldiers in the Resistance. Sarah has been training and working with a T-800 for a decade; she should know this. The T-1000 knows that injured humans tend to ask for help when they're hurt. The T-1000 did the exact same thing in Terminator 2 when he mimicked Sarah and called for John to help.

I agree, and Reese’s character has a lot to do with that. I love Judgement Day, but the original Terminator was man vs machine. Reese was determined to protect Sarah, yet completely vulnerable and at the risk of dying any time, unlike the T-800 in the second. And Michael Biehn was flawless.

The T-1000 could easily have taken advantage of Sarah being undecided on which one was the real one, lunge forward and kill her immediately. Guns barely even slow it down, even if she managed to fire on it it could just tank through and stab her. But no, we get the cliched 'He's the bad guy I'm the real one' 'no *HE'S* the bad guy *I'M* the real one' scene. God this film was bad.

In T2, Arnold asked if he could lift and through T-1000 (Robert Patrick). Cameroon rejected the idea saying that T-1000 was way more dense and that T-800 would not be able to just through it like that. Years later, this garbage comes along and he lifts it with one hand. It destroyed the terrifying nature of the machine.

There's 4 things you can notice in this scene. 1, you can notice that the T-1000 has less decibels in its voice while the real Reese has a baritone voice. 2, the real Reese said "It" and the machine said "him." 3, The machine walked in while Reese ran right in. 4, Reese would never ask for help of injuries.

If the T-1000 bolted for Sarah, it would have given him away and then he'd have just gotten shot up by Sarah and knocked down while Sarah and Kyle got away. I think the idea here was that he was trying to get Sarah confused enough that she'd either shoot Kyle, or shoot them both to be sure and injure Kyle further. He wouldn't have been able to get close enough before Sarah shot him enough to make him stop.

It couldnt when it was being damaged by the acid. Also the T1000 can be pushed away due to damage, like a shotgun blast. Honestly my complaint is how in T2 a pistol did very little to it but in this movie a pistol can actually make it flinch similar to a shotgun blast

T1000 should be smart enough to avoid its own weaknesses (like extreme temperature, acid or powerful magnetic field) and try to assassinate the target later on. It has plenty of time to wait and take the most effective shot.

@@daphnejyothi4795 3 issues. 1, as we can see, there was acid raining from behind them as well, 2 it is in read only mode, and so will do what it believes increases its chance of killing its target the most, rather than saving itself, and 3, it takes the T800 to stop it from killing sarah

I love how both Reese and Sarah wait until he fully morphs back into the T- 1000 instead of just shooting him or running away.

Worse yet the T-1000 is much stronger than the T-800 and it is much faster it can run up to 40 miles an hour and it's target was literally right in front of it and it did not kill her! If I were the T-1000 I would just go sprint and stab and run off and do whatever I want then and that's also what the original would do.
