Designed for High Performance Requirements
The 4-Bay F4-423 is suitable for SMB users who need high-performance storage solutions. High performance means that users can easily handle high-load workflows, while multiple business-level backup solutions guarantee data safety and safeguard against the risk of data loss.
This is a high-performance storage solution that provides a virtual storage and database service for SMB users. It uses an Intel Celeron N5105/5095 quad-core processor with 2.0 GHz and a maximum turbo of 2.9 GHz. It is integrated with a GPU graphics card and AES NI hardware encryption. In addition, it is equipped with two 2.5 GbE interfaces and a 4 GB DDR4 dual-channel memory (expandable up to 32 GB). Moreover, this storage solution is internally installed with 2 M.2 NVMe slots, which accelerate SSD caching and double the storage efficiency of your RAID.
The F4-423 is configured with two 2.5 GbE interfaces, supporting a 2.5 GbE high-speed network bandwidth. The linear data transmission speed can reach 283 MB/s (Seagate IronWolf 18TB x 4, RAID 0). Link Aggregation offers a network bandwidth up to 5 Gb, thereby providing a cost-effective solution for multi-user and high-concurrent file access.
The F4-423 supports various RAID types including Single/RAID 0/1/5/6/10. It offers online capacity expansion and online migration for RAID types. Hot Spare can be configured for the disk array. It supports the creation of multiple storage spaces, and ext 4 or BTRFS file systems can be selected in accordance with various business requirements. When used in conjunction with TerraMaster USB DAS devices, the F4-423 has the ability to flexibly expand storage capacity.

What I would like to see is another operating system. OMV would be good but even more I would be interested if you can also install casaos.

So which is better for cataloging photos or media? Also syncing cloud services? I'm running OMV6 but not interested in portainer apps and would rather use included apps

I was using SyncThing for my phones and switched to this for the same reason. Thing is that, for some reason, the TerraMaster app won't backup anything on you sd card, so if you have anything stored there, this won't back it up.

Hi, I just upgraded from WD media (behind the times) with the NVIDIA shield tv pro for the sake of playing my own uploaded media. Instead of the old HDDs, terramaster seems to be a good idea to store all in one location and stream Plex? Thanks

Power consumption seems like a dream compared to my r320 (which by most standards is even considered efficient), but having only 2 bays seems somewhat restrictive, even though that's common for most nasses

Is the OS installed in an internal USB Drive? What type and how large is it? Can it be upgraded to a faster USB, SATA SSD or SSD NVME? Are the 2 NVME slots only for the cache? Would the storage drives be better suited for Mechanical SATA Drives designed for NAS?
@DBTechYT
@DBTechYT Жыл бұрын
The OS is installed on the data hard drives. The internal USB is just for OS installation purposes. The NVMe slots are just for caching
@crod6431
@crod6431 Жыл бұрын
@@DBTechYT If you buy the device without hard drives, you have to install the OS in one of the drives? That doesn't make sense. Why not use one pf the two NVME slots to install the OS and leave the two HD slots for data disks only? Is the OS installed in a separate partition of a disk? If the disk fails, you have to reinstall the OS. Does the OS need a fast disk to boot? If so, should one of the two drives be a SATA SSD? Also, isn't a RAID Configuration supposed to work best for data disks? How does it work if one of the disks has the OS?
@crod6431
@crod6431 Жыл бұрын
@@DBTechYT So the OS is using one of the Data Disks?
@DBTechYT
@DBTechYT Жыл бұрын
When you get the device, the OS installation USB is in it. You put your drives in it and power it up for the first time. Then the installation process starts. You choose the RAID level or whatever you want to use for your device. It then uses part of the hard drives for the OS installation. Go watch this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a-CqZ9GW2be-gpc.html

Awesome video! I'm looking for a 2-bay that I can set and forget at a friend's house, and just occasionally remote into or go over to update the software on and maintain. He needs mass storage for video editing and other similar things, and might enjoy running a Minecraft server (in docker?). I'm attracted to these because Synology is still not shipping with 2.5GbE standard, and while that's not a huge deal now, it will be in the next few years, especially as SSD cost per GB continues to go down. It looks like this might be the way to go.
@DBTechYT
@DBTechYT 2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely install Docker on these and it would make a great server for what you're talking about. I would suggest upgrading the RAM from the 4GB it comes with to at least 16GB

@@DBTechYT Thanks! I grabbed an ARGON EON Raspberry Pi 4 powered NAS, and was going to set that up for him, but it uses 25 w at idle and the single fan they put in it, combined with the choked off ventilation, makes it sound like a loud 2 cylinder car. I'm going to take a serious look at this for him.

I think there are a lot of short coming to this Nas. I purchased it and will have to return it. The lack of standard compatibility of ram sticks ( I tried 2 brands crucial Sodim ddr 4 2600 and another brand...both failed ) then to see the shocking price of $200 for 16 gig on the main terramaster site was a major turn off - Iooks wise the Nas looks great but honestly i rather go with a more established brand ie Asustor that has more standard ram etc.
