To me it's one of the top 3 RPGs on the SNES. The other 2 being FF6 and Chrono Trigger (very unoriginal, I know, lol). I love A LOT of 16-bit era JRPG's, played most of them over the years (not so much after they went 3D), so the competition is fierce, but if I had to pick 3 on SNES, these would be my favorite ones. As for which one of them is better than the others, this is too tough to answer, they have different qualities that I love about each of them.

I played Terranigma 20 years ago, and I should play it again because it was a bewildering fantasy epic. Terranigma was the first game that made me cry. The ending, where Ark was given one final day, before pretty much disappearing from reality along with Crysta and all its inhabitants, and its subsequent ending, left me teary eyed. This whole game is basically about one dude, fighting to bring back the world as we know it all on his own. And in the end, no one will remember him. As a young man, still trying to find his own way in the world, this hit me on so many levels. Especially when I saw the end credits and heard its music. I still have the original cartridge and I cherish having it. And Bloody Mary is still an absolute b*tch

So this video was just recommended to me, and every time I see someone on here talking about Terranigma I have to watch. Terranigma still sits extremely high as not just one of my favourite RPGs, but also as one of my favourite games in general. It's such a beautiful game visually, audibly and narratively and it's rare a game hits me emotionally quite like Terranigma did. That ending credit roll still manages to bring a tear to my eye even after the countless times I've seen it. Pretty sure I still have my original cart somewhere (Aussie here) but my SNES is long gone so I still give it a run every few years emulated. I had no idea growing up with this game that America never got it. Such a shame, but if it makes you feel better we never got Chrono Trigger until the DS port ;)

Man, I remember 14 years ago when I was in high school AUS (secondary school if you're in US), a friend gave me a flash drive with a SNES emulator and a huge ROM archive. I played all the FF, Lufia and Breath of Fire games but Terranigma took the cake for me. I never finished it because I got stuck and couldn't figure out what to do next. But it was so mysterious and riveting. I was sick off the random-cut turn-based battle style of FF so the seamless action battle system was so damn refreshing. There was NO content on youtube on Terranigma 14 years ago. I'm so happy that people are giving this game more attention. Cheers mate! How awesome would a full-on 3d open-world AAA remake of Terranigma be in 2022 with all the awesome tech we have now?!

I played it last year and when the credits rolled i stood up and clapped... This was not my ordinary RPG experience... Rather it has been a journey and a time travel back to 1995... This game is a masterpiece, from the exquisitely good artistic design to the tears inducing music that reflects what you see on screen in a way that makes you feel like you never did before... Quintet made a masterpiece, and sadly, only a handful of people got the chance to praise them, before they dismantled and went separate ways... When I will be 80 years old, rocking back and forth on my wodden chain, I'd like to be reminded of this game, and maybe even have a chance to play it again and listen to those tunes...

Wow, this video truly is a nostalgia trip to me! Terranigma was the first real (action) RPG I've ever played and I loved and still love every second of it. Gameplay is awesome: a well thought out balance between classic RPG elements and interactive gameplay. But I think we can all agree that the story of this game is truly something you'll never forget in ANY videogame. Especially the finale where every mystery until this point in the game becomes clear. Without spoiling to much: the scene with (Baby) Ark and Melina. To keep it short, the ending (still) hits hard... The buildup throughout the intired game is also great (you get to know and love the characters). The way the game tries to explain the creation of "everything" and how you progressively see the world growing and even more important, evolving is really special. Truly one of my favourite games of all time!!!😁

I love this game to bits. Definitely would rank it above FF6 personally. One thing you could have highlighted better is the sheer amount of optional things to do. Also the fourth game in the Quintet Quartet: Robotrek. Definitely recommend all four. Anyhoo... Most memorable part? Difficult to choose just one part... But let's go with Louran. When you first arrive it seems like a 'normal' fantasy town/city... But at night it's zombie time in the dead city. Even though its not a long part of the game it is memorable because even here there's so many little details and optional outcomes.

German Fans of Terranigma should definitly watch Parappa's In-Depth analysis "Das Quintet-Quintett: Terranigma (Teil 1 und 2 )". Its over 2 and a half hours long, but worth every minute. Its very entertaining and informative, it even has some songs in between.

I loved this game. Hard game to get a hold of. Played on emulater, but many of the emulators have issues with this game specifically.

This is the biggest misconception in Terranigma because when magic is used you get the crystals/Magirock back, so the use of magic is unlimited and that's why the magic also costs money to the dealer otherwise the magic would be free.

I'm convinced that if this game was released on the SNES in the USA, it would've been just as populat as Chrono Trigger and FFVI. Easily my favorite SNES game!

It's Magus' theme from Chrono Trigger. Closing theme is from FF6 though.

The most memorable part of this game? Getting stuck in it. First, there's the Ra Dewdrop, which for some unusual reason, has to be equipped instead of used from the pause menu, THEN used in the game field, THEN you're allowed into the room with the poison gas. Not very intuitive design. There's that one castle because they only said "check the wall opposite the unpaired statue" once, and never again, making the hint disappear forever. ...and then there's grinding before Dark Gaia. Thematically, it's okay, but the translation is not great. Admittedly, it was the same guy who translated the original Pokemon, and it was a different time. Oh, and if you've ever played Robopon 2 (doesn't matter which version), you might notice that A LOT of Quintet's old graphics get reused in that game (including Terranigma's overworld GFX and font), and that's no coincidence. At least four Quintet staff members worked on that one, and it was one of their last before they mysteriously vanished.

Yeah,I needed a guide around 3/4 through, it gets pretty challenging with many "what the heck do I do next" moments. But overall a solid game

I'm trying to remember a SNES game - is this the one? It had city expansion but it was bugged. One of the cities couldn't max out even if all quests were done. And you could buy/own a flat in one of them. I also think you marry and get a child. Your main character and wife sacrifice themselves and you play on as the kid. For reference I'm German and probably played the game like 30y ago.
