That chess metaphor is a really terrible one too. Cause then you can turn that metaphor right around. The king is slow, useless, and doesnt help you push towards your win, but every single other piece is still made to protect that king from any harm. The king is mediocre rich men, every other piece is like idk the working class? I didnt think about this metaphor very deeply just wanted to show how easy it is to completely turn this metaphor around.

You can turn anything into a metaphor explaining your point but just because you can use the same thing to make a contrasting metaphor doesn't discredit the metaphor. The purpose of a metaphor is to explain something by using something else

The chess analogy is so hilarious, because the king is literally the most impotent piece on the board, and is so pathetic he has to rely on his army to protect him. The entire point of the game is to protect your sandbag-piece-of-shit king while taking your opponent's equally incompetent king. 99% of chess games the king is strictly in a state of "oh fuck please don't kill me I'm just a wittle baby."
@amiralcookie3221
@amiralcookie3221 Жыл бұрын
I take that as a chess critic even though its not intended to be so. Chess is a masterpiece of a game. Everything has its role and of course to make the game better they had to choose a piece that is the most important, but wouldn't be too easy for the king to just get out of every bad situation instead of struggling to find a square where it is safe? I don't think it would be fun so that's why the king is shit in his mobility. And of course Andrew Tate is so wrong and fucking stupid but what did the chess do to you? (FYI this is not related to the video but to your comment)
@dinospumoni5611

@@amiralcookie3221 I'm a chess player too (only like 1500 so not very good) I understand the significance of the king and how many situations the king is incredibly offensively useful especially end game, not a critique of the game just a dumb analogy from Tate. I was making fun of him specifically because I love chess and he has no clue what he's talking about.
@mmasont
@mmasont Жыл бұрын
I don't agree with his analogy, but everybody saying 'the queen is powerful the king is useless' you aren't countering his analogy, you're just making a different one. Your counter just ignores the key to his analogy, being that regardless of what it does or how functional it is, the entire game revolves around the king.
@dinospumoni5611
@dinospumoni5611 Жыл бұрын
@@mmasont if I'm not mistaken, his analogy is that the queen can skirt by doing nothing and still succeed, while the king has to work extra hard for similar success. in the real game of chess, the queen does the majority of the work and they succeed as a team, often with the queen as a sacrifice. The queen, despite being overwhelmingly more useful, is expendable and the king isn't expendable by the rulebook itself.

Why does it feel he is bewildered by the fact that these days not only men but also women are in these fields? "The man who has a yacht" could have inherited his parents business or money. Or he could just be a corrupt deputy, or a crypto guy, who scams people. However to be a girl, who is invited to yachts is more difficult, because having a pretty face structure isn't enough. You need to follow a certain diet, you need to workout to keep your body in perfect shape all the time, you need to get your nails/brows done, you need to know how to apply makeup and how to dress fashionably, and frequently you also need to have an ability to hold a conversation and to be a pleasant companion. You also need to have good marketing skills to become popular on social media for "a man with a yacht" to notice you.

When Peterson is talking about the men in the air in the storms and all that he’s probably talking about linemen. the men (primarily) who do it are quite literally up in the air, on power lines and telephone poles, they get paid to go up 250+ ft sometimes so it’s definitely a nerve wracking job. they’re the ones who put up all the lines we use, power lines and fiber optics all that
